My buddy and I got this wild idea to lower my car by cutting the springs( I know, were idiots lol). About 6 months later with my new shocks anialated and car almost rattling apart, I bought new shocks and springs at about 600$ and installed them. This is the old shock assembly when I removed the tire lol...

I once took a ride in my friends '90 something Caddie with chopped springs (It didn't feel like there were any shocks in the car at all it was bouncing so bad). He got so many people hopping up with their air bags and all he could do is just sit there scraping the wells with his tires on every turn. I made fun of him so bad lololol. The stance looked dope though!

What kind of new shocks/springs did you get now?

Koni yellows and oem new springs from volvo

I have seen this before. My friend bought a 99 Jetta and the precious owner cut the springs. It sits so low and the thing scrapes everywhere too. I'll post some pictures after we replace everything with actual lowering springs on Friday.

Koni makes great shocks. I have Koni single adjustable on my Trans Am. When I installed them and got them dialed in it made the ride so much better.

My other choice was bilstein HD's, but konis had great reviews

I have Koni Yellows and Ground control coilovers. When I buy an sti in a few weeks, I'll be throwing Bilstein PS9 or PS10s on. Haven't totally decided. But I need some adjustability for the track. I've had my koni's for about 3 years and no issues.

Were you guys pulling a Towelie when you decided to cut them?

:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I actually prefer the way it sat before!

...but yeah, it's a bad idea to cut springs and dangerous too. Looking at your spring/shock assembly from before, it's a good thing you didn't hurt yourself or somebody else!

I know me too...it sat really nice. I might bring my self to get some actual good lowering springs(h&r and eibach make good ones for the 850) at a later time.

I have a similar setup with the double adjustable - kind of wish I went with the singles though since I have them set and haven't touched them since.

You forgot to roll your fenders with a baseball bat when you were done. Anyone not familiar, check it out on You Tube

I have successfully cut one coil off some of my old school GM cars with no issue.We have basically 2 options, dropped spindles which can create a negative offset on disk brakes (depending on manufacturer) or cut a coil which is less expensive.

eibach type springs blow the shocks - had them.....get coils - megan makes a 15 way adj damper - nice set I have for 699.00 - camber bars cost oyu another 200 or so - all told - I spent about 1100 with alignment and labor to get my car looking right and eliminate the "4x4 look". Rides totally like stock.

That was a bad move to cut the springs. Also the Koni yellows should be used with a lowering spring. Not a factory height spring.

I bought a fender roller tool to do it. After seeing some videos and pictures of people messing up their cars I decided not to take a chance. I ended up doing a ton of cars since I bought it. It ended up paying for itself after a few uses.
