As a newbie I'm not really sure where swirl removers are supposed to fit in. Are they considered intermediate products between compounds and polishes? I would think most paint corrections could be taken care of with products like UC/m105 and m205.

When would you choose swirl remover instead of just using a good polish?

Sticking to basics:
IMO...Polishes and swirl-removers: Just different ways of saying the same/similar products...
The way that car-care products manufacturers "name" them is often where the confusion lays.

-They both contain some type(s) of abrasives.
-They both are capable, along with the proper tools, of removing:
Buffing/washing/environmental/etc.-inflicted scratches (swirls).

Once a vehicle is washed/dried:
-Inspect/evaluate the paint's condition

-Based on this evaluation...
A choice of what particular polish(es), and their abrasives' "aggressiveness-level"...
Can then be selected for the "Test Spot"...
To see the effectiveness of their swirl/scratches removal ability...
Before proceeding with the entire vehicle's correction processes.

Okay thanks for the info. I've ordered Megs UC, Megs m205, and Colli 853. I think between those 3 I should be able to fix most paint issues and get a pretty good finish. Just wondering if swirl remover was a necessity and brings anything to the table that the others couldn't.
