Hello,

I have a 2003 Black Subaru WRX (Subaru = soft paint). The paint is in very good shape but it does have some minor swirls. I was really thinking of going Megs 205 and either green or white pad on my PC. After this I am going to go right into Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant. I have never polished before, and wanted to know if 205 will finish pretty well on either green or white? I have orange pads and megs 105 as well, but hope not to have to use something that aggressive. I was hoping for the one stage polish followed by paint sealant.

you could try a test spot with 205 and white but go with whatever Bill (LegacyGT) says...

I assume it will finish ok. But I have never worked on your paint. If anything a black pad will finish up nicely.

That or get some 85rd...

You'll never know without trying - do a test spot.

How will I know if it does not "finish out" well. Will it be hazy when I wipe it down with IPA?

You will know. Use a good light to inspect the paint. You can do a 50/50 to really tell a difference if you want.

If that doesnt finish well, will u consider a finishing pad with Ultimate Polish?

I'm not sure there is really a big difference between ultimate polish and megs 205 so I would probably just go one pad softer to finish out.

Also having a black Sub...going down to a black is not unheard of with 205 or/and UP.

I tried a red pad with UP...kinda waste of time (IMHO)...nothing much happened. A tiny bit more shine...if that.

Ive finished down with a white pad and similar polish on some black cars. On my Acura, I did it in the garage without much light and thought it looked good, pulled it out and saw all the hazyness in the sun. Just make sure you inspect it under bright lights and/or the sun to see how it came out. The only thing I had to do to fix it was a quick pass of the same polish (was using menzerna 106fa or final finish I think it is called now) on a black pad.
