Looking for something to use around window and door frames. I feel like the 5.5 might be to large and won't have very good pad contact. seem like you might be able to work a 4 in around a little easier. I was looking at the lc 4 in kit. any suggestions. pc 7424xp

I have used 4" on my Makita rotary speed 2.5 around those areas with a polish , works good .

I use the 4" pads a great deal of the time. There are a lot of spots where the 5 1/2" pads are too big or maybe too akward to handle for me in those tight spaces.

Yes you can. You will need a 3.5" backing plate and am assortment of 4" pads. You do need to concentrate more on keeping the pad flat so it won't stop rotating though.

Use them all the time! You need the smaller backing plate is all.

As the guys have already said yes you can and there GREAT to have you'll find more and more uses for them.. I use them quite a bit on both PC/Rotary here's the link CCS Spot Buffs 4 Inch Foam Pad Kit this has you covered drill/rotary/Da and you get some nice microfibers to boot hey ;-) .. also if your wondering about having to change the counter weight or any issues with it you dont have to change it. It does give a little more vibration at higher settings but not really a issue maybe someone can chime in?

Here's something I wrote related to this topic in this thread,

Be careful, when using small pads on relatively large tools the tool becomes tippy when working on horizontal panels.

Focus on the task at hand...

Key word being tippy...

It's not a big a deal or issue if you're working on vertical panels because you're automatically holding up the weight of the tool. On a horizontal panel you'll tend to let the tool weight rest on the pad, thus the tippy characteristic.

It's not a problem as long as you're focusing on the task at hand...
