Will a Foam cannon help decrease wash time?

Isnt the more important question is does it improve your result? Saving time makes no difference if in the end you spend more time re-correcting the paint or scrubbing off spots you missed.

I was thinking the same thing. Faster wash or Quality wash. Sign me up for quality wash. I foam each time I was any of the vehicles. If I don't have the team and will have to rush, then I will wait until I have quality time.

To the OP, an electric PW will help knock off the heavy dirt and mud, so that will speed things up a bit for you.

Just One Man's Opinion

Thanks for all your inputs guys. Really do appreciate it.
Just to explain, i started the thread primarily to survey if most of you who use the foam cannon/pressure washer combo get to save time when washing your cars even when they're really dirty. This stems from my observation that most of the foam cannon videos in youtube have a pretty clean car to begin with. so it's hard to tell if the foam does help take out most of the caked up dirt and mud which is common here in my country especially during the rainy season.
Although i do enjoy detailing (as a hobby), i must say that it does take up a whole lot of time; time i could spend with the family, sleep, etc. So saving even just 30mins on the whole process does mean a lot to me as long as it doesnt significantly jeopardize the quality of the end result.

I don't think the foam makes a huge difference. I blast most of the heavy dirt/mud off with pressure first. I have done it the other way around, but it doesn't seem to make change anything for me. Wet mud comes off easier whether it is soaked in soap water or just straight out of the hose.

No time is saved after dragging everything out of the garage and hooking it up. I mostly do it because I have the equipment and enjoy doing it.

If I am lazy a quick soaping and pressure wash will get the car shiny, but it does leave streaks of light dirt behind.

So how about using a Foam Gun to coat the vehicle, rinse it, then switch to ONR and wash-clay(nanoskin)-dry a panel at a time?

You could, but you might as well just two bucket it at that point
