If I want to use a 4:1 APC to clean my tires and rims would it remove any sealant/wax I have applied to the rims?

Thanks.

Ok so a little more info as I'm still wondering...

If I am using LA's Totally Awesome cleaner it states on the label that "wax stripping" is 5:1

So if I made a 10:1 mix would it not be okay to use on rims w/ sealant on w/o worrying about it being stripped?

Thanks

Don't use that on your rims. I only will use it on my tires. If you have an LSP on your rims, you shouldn't need anything other than soap anyway...

Just because the bottle says you can use it to clean rims doesn't mean you should. I sure wouldn't use it as a car wash at 50:1...

To answer your question though yes, it will. I still high suggest getting a gallon of Meguiar's Non-Acid or something similar if you need something to clean other than soap. The S100 wheel cleaner is inexpensive and effective as well.

I use Griot's Garage Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner. It's PH Balanced,
Approved by BBS, the maker of rims for Ferrari, Porsche, etc. It will get the road tar, brake dust and dirt. Apply let dwell then use wheel woollies.

If you are looking to get some baked on road muck, you could use Stoners Tarminator first, but you should still go back over them with a wheel cleaner.

For the cheap steel wheels with plastic hub-caps, I'll use APC.

OK thanks for the input. I don't think I would need anything other than soap and water anyway. I really just wanted to use it for the tires and was worried about it getting on the rims a little.
