Here in NC the pollen has been relentless! And right now the weather is cool and beautiful, and I really want to wash the car, but it will just be covered in pollen like 10 mins later. Are y'all feeling this frustration too? I am very eager to begin my very first paint correction on the car, but alas, I can't do it with this pollen around. I guess I'll have to tough it out and by then the weather will probably be hot, but oh well...

I've washed my car 3 times in the past week. Trust me, I feel your pain down here in Florida.

The pollen will go away just in time for you to start complaining about how it's too hot to wash the car.
I can already feel the summer heat and humidity looming.:autowash:

You got that right! Yes, summer is coming soon....

It has been really bad the last two weeks here in Raleigh, NC. The trees were about a 2 weeks behind in sprouting due to cooler than normal spring and now everything including the oaks (usually the last to come out) have sprouted. I hope it is a more intense but less prolonged pollen season.

BTW, go Duke Blue Devils.

If you are near an Auto Bell car wash in Raleigh now is the perfect time for one of their unlimited wash packages. I love mine along with my California Duster. Having a garage and being retired helps big time.

Unfortunately, the experts in my area say the pollen count is not higher than normal, but due to the unusually cold weather, will last longer.

Congrats also to coach K and the Blue Devils (from a former North Carolinian)

I heard the pollen count in upstate SC is 4X more than last year! We got an inch of rain yesterday that cleansed the air big time. I washed my Expedition today and will wash the XLR tomorrow.

Down here in South florida i can't remember ever being this bad.I guess it's pay back for the great Winter and Spring so far

Speak for yourself! This winter and spring have been way colder than I cared for!

I've found a great way to keep my car clean without having to actually wash it. First you'll need to make sure you have a very clean coat or two of a good wax, I use OCW. Wash your car and dry it, and every day after that just use a California Car Duster to get all the pollen off, even the windows will come clean. I've been able to keep the car looking as good as just washed but the thing is that if dew forms on the car overnight, the pollen will stick and you'll have to wash it off.

I never remember it being this bad. You have to clean your car as soon as you are done cleaning it! Jeesh................. It has been good weather and with it not being so hot I was actually able to wash and dry before the sun baked the mineral laden well water into my paint and windows. That is changing and I have to break down and get a deionized water filter.

How do you deal with the cars that blow those little white petals. They are about the size of a pea and really annoying. It doesn't help there is a tree of it in my driveway.

I gave up drying the car today because I would rinse off a panel, put the hose down, and it would be covered in them again. I will have to remove the water spots later. :'(

I guess the only thing I can do is wash the car in a garage or cut the tree down?

Besides all the pollen on the cars you have to feel sorry for those people that have to deal with allergies. My wife is one of those folks and she has had the most horrible itchy eyes and congestion that I have ever seen her have to deal with. All the meds that her doctor gives her have little to no benefit. I don't have the heart to complain about pollen on my car to her, besides, I would have to start dodging the wax containers that would be flying my way.

I spent several hours this past Saturday washing and waxing my car. I first waxed it with Megs' M20 and then topped it with P21S 100%. It looked great, but within a few hours my black car had turned green. I hate this pollen!

Question: Do carnauba waxes hold on to the pollen more than synthetic sealants? I'm wondering if I should have topped the M20 with a pure synthetic sealant through the pollen season. Has anyone seen a difference?

BTW, I live in Knoxville. Powell is a suburb of Knoxville.

I don't know. I did find this weird though - I washed both of my parents' cars tonight. The 1990 Accord had a 2 week old application of Collinite 915 on it. The 2000 Accord had a coat of Collinite 845 that was applied back in January (I have only been washing it (used UWW on it two or three times) and using UQW after each wash since then). Washed the '90 a week ago - beaded great, applied FK 425 afterward. Washed it today - it was like my wax application had aged by about 3-4 months. And it was the least dirty of the two. Washed the 2000 Accord - still beading great. I could really see the hydrophobic properties of UQW at work - it was pushing the water uphill, even on the vertical panels. Pretty cool, actually. I wonder if the beading issue here was in part due to the fact that 915 has more carnauba in it, where 845 is more solvent based? I don't know. Speaks bounds for 845 though that it has held up through our nasty winter and is still going strong even through pollen season (with a little help from UQW, of course).
