Will we get over our addiction?

We have the Wheel woolies and boars hair brush. LOL I forgot all about those. They are in the wheel bucket as well.

I still try the nanoskin first but really, when folded into 1/4's it's not a whole lot bigger than the clay. I don't find the time difference that great. It may reduce a min here and there because you don't have to kneed it but other than that I can clay almost as quickly. But I did just order ONR to try as a lube. Have gone through about 5 so far. They have all worked about the same. Just trying ONR because I seem to go through at least 16 oz spray bottle per car so ONR is much cheaper than Nano Shock, Glide, Luber, and the rest.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone

I actually just remembered in the Nikon forums they have a name for it NAS. Nikon Acquisition Syndrome.

Thank you for feedback.

I really like folding it in 1/2. But you're right, I do conventional clay as well and it's as great if not greater in specific cases. I have many - To each it's own.

In the above picture I'm using CarPro towel, but I do have nanoskin mitts (both colors, sure!), towels, and sponges... and GAS hahaha

Best Wishes.

AG did have a great sale over Black Friday. Too good to pass up

Who holds the power to control the external cues that not only trigger your cravings...but also increase the frequency of you engaging in those cravings?

Fortunately, I have found the ability to consistently abstain from such cravings. But that doesn't mean I'm immune from suffering relapses.

Since your capable of abstaining, What products do you typically use. I don't think you've ever talked about your process

I'm pretty much over it.

But, it took me literally being a garage full of products to find what works best for me. Then again - I'm just out of places to store stuff.

I'm buying a house in the near future. My next addiction will probably be more with tools, getting a lift, compressor, etc...

I've given information regarding my products/processes on numerous occasions that's quite readily found within many of my postings/recommendations.

I never thought of folding it in half. I saw all the videos on having 4 sides that I just went with it. Maybe they are just wearing down sooner than they should, or maybe I shouldn't expect 100% removal. I do wish I bought all Yellow. They told me blue but I haven't found a car that the yellow is too much for.

Although I did learn to not go across the hood of a black Mercedes SL AMG when it's 100 degrees out, the hood has been sitting in the sun and the lube dries as you wipe the towel across. Learned my lesson and scared the out of me. Towel seemed to melt on contact. Luckily no harm no foul and I learned that if the canopy wont shade the car, tell the owner we have to use the garage. It's probably why I go through a spray bottle of lube per car now. lol

I have other obsessions and addictions - detailing is only one of them. They come and go in cycles. It's got down to a point, I can pretty much time my annual cycles. And in my mind, detailing as a hobby fits right in to these yearly schedule. (Thinking of the annual 3-step polish, bi or tri-monthly wax/sealant/etc. and weekly maintenance washes...) Went overboard with my initial purchases and have now scaled it down to a few personally tested products.

So pretty much, I'm on rehab/maintenance mode. :)

Just got this in the mail yesterday. Smells exactly like a household cleaner that I can't put my finger on. I'll figure it out.

Ironically i went from this thread to the "Post Your Unpacking Pics" thread!!! Oh the humanity...

BTW, frank, i LOVE 1Z Cockpit Premium.

Men, I can feel you. I have spent 1200$ last 4 months and I have enough stock for 2-3 years of weekly and daily detailining. But, TBH I now feel emty and sad because I don't have much products to try any more (except hi-end waxes over 60$ per tin/can). Though, it is good to see that other guys in the forums are testing the products that you already have tested and compare the findings.

Am I missing something? Is there a thread post your unpacking pics.

Thanks bob. I'm still getting used to looking at the forum on my phone. Sometimes it's just easier for me to look at one area. Especially when I'm using the phone app

Detailing is like your DNA its permanent, and or a part of you for life that said your addition will rise, and fall and that can be cause you really have a beloved car, weather is nice, it can even be cause your business is booming, and these examples works the other way around too, and yeah you will go through periods of buying brush, waxes, etc but its like a learning trail to see first hand how this, and that works, hence after a while you will have very basic regime after awhile with few splurges especially when sales comes around

I have 2 deliveries from autogeek tomorrow and 1 Monday. I hate the Monday delivers, have to wait all weekend. I think shipping wise Autogeek is located about as far as they can be from me without leaving the country. 5 days for delivery!! Should give us CA people a break with the 3 day shipping. Or at least offer Saturday delivery. :)

Same here. Went through a cycle with my car about 6 months ago. 30 grand in mods later my addiction went away a little and I turned my attention to this. Although it's starting to come back a little on the car as well but I have to fight that one. Only one bank emptier at a time. Thank god I don't have a girlfriend or wife, then I would have to make a choice between the car, detailing, and her. Actually never mind, car wins every time.
