That might be it!

.....and if it is, imagine that thing with a mid-mounted LS1 engine...WOW!

The guess' have been great so far but the best one is this:

I'm reposting mine in the correct format:

1965 - Chevrolet - Camaro SS

When does the contest end Mike?

Either today or tomorrow. Whenever Mike or Yancey post a pic of the car.

My guess was already taken but i guessed it anyways. Lol

Yes, they made it in 1975 and 1976 with the fourth generation body style.

Here is what an ss looked like.

Wow, the 70's sure sucked the life outta fast cars:

Engines for the 1976 Chevrolet Nova were a 105-horsepower inline-six, a 165-horsepower 350-cubic-inch V-8, or a 140-horse 305-cubic-inch V-8.

The $187 Nova SS option group included a black grille with unique diamond-mesh pattern, Rally wheels, four-spoke steering wheel, and heavy-duty suspension.

Going out on a limb with this one

1969 Oscar Mayer Wienermobile

I've heard it's pretty beefy.

It was the gas crisis more than anything, I think. Up until that point, gas was cheap and always extremely plentiful. All of a sudden, it skyrocketed in cost and people waited in line in their cars for blocks, for hours just to get gas. It even got to the point at which people were only allowed to buy gas on certain days if their license plate ended with even or odd numbers, ect. The price of oil quadrupled. The first gas crisis was in 1973 and the second was in 1979. A lot of you guys here are too young to remember it, or have experienced it at all.

I remember the one in 1979 well.
The increased cost of gas is what killed the muscle car, and is why so many of the 70's cars sucked, as well as why Japanese cars, being smaller and consuming less gas, became attractive enough that Americans bought them.

Yeah the gas prices and the use of unleaded fuel, as well as rising insurance costs did the muscle car in for sure but there was the 73-74 Trans Am SD that proved that if they put their minds to they could work around it.
