Window cleaning frustration

Hi! Well my car is looking great since I joined the group.
I am having frustration getting my windows clean without streaks.
I use stoners glass cleaner with glass microfiber towels.
I use one towel to clean, another to dry!
I haven't washed the towles yet. They all are brand new.
I have been washing windows every two week.
I assume I need to wash glass towels from the other towels.
Any suggestions? I am getting really frustrated.
I just bought some Megs window cleaner concentrate
I am thinking of using vinegar and water.
Please help!
I get mad when I take the car out and I see streaks when the windows are exposed to sunlight
Thanks for the help

Glass cleaning can be frustrating but here is my suggestion: first off the Meguiars Window cleaner is a great product, the key is to not use to much. Second I highly recommend you purchase a Glass Master cleaning tool http://www.autogeek.net/glass-master-pro.html it comes with two detachable heads and three assorted bonnets: one nylon mesh, one multi-purpose and one microfiber. With one head I use a multi purpose bonnet to apply the cleaner and to work it in then switch heads for one with a microfiber bonnet to buff off any remaining cleaner. You can purchase extra bonnets as well http://www.autogeek.net/glass-bonnets.html

Use it once and you will not use anything else.

The key to getting streak free windows is to keep going over them with the dry towel until they are completely dry...some have mentioned going back and buffing...kind of the same thing. As long as you keep going over them with the dry towel you won't have streaks. My wife actually taught me that!! lol
Also the window tool is extremely helpful with this because of the angle...especially the windshield and rear windows. I've been in the hot sun and shot small mist of water on the windshield and gotten a pretty descent result.

Where do you get your Huck surgical towels from? I have always read that this is the way to go but for some reason I am still struggling without them. I need to stop screwing around and just order some. Thanks for the tip.

There are a few places on the net to buy them, but most require you purchase a ton of them. I've had good luck with these-- Lint-Free Surgical Towels You can purchase them by the dozen.

Try using your glass cleaner first, and down worry about the streaks.

Then follow up with a rinseless wash dilution in a spray bottle. I have found DP rinseless wash & gloss at either clay lube or wash dilution to work the best.

The problem is that glass cleaners do such a good job of stripping anything that has lubrication off the window that the MF towel then grabs onto the window and can not glide easily. either causing streaks or EVEN WORSE lint left on the glass that can only be seen in direct sunlight.

Ive been asking for a manufacturer to make a glass cleaner that is slick on wipeoff. So I started using glass cleaner (with no ammonia or alcohoal) with some QDetailer added into the bottle with great results. That was before rinseless wash's were popular. Now I just use a rinseless wash on the last step on the windows for a farily slippery wipeoff. doing it this way I have no problem with tiny tiny lint particles being left on the glass.

at the moment I have found a product that works great all in one step. so i'm able to avoid the glass cleaner completely. Its Garry Dean's Infinite Use Detail Juice in RTU (ready to use) form. As long as there is no nasty haze or grease on the window this works great in one step.

I use Stoners, a waffle weave glass towel, and another to buff. If the windshield is really buggy, I do it twice.

I use ONR 1:16. No streaks!

:iagree: :dblthumb2:

I use ONR to clean the windows after washing the car. I use a wet towel and immediately follow with a clean, dry towel. I haven't tried diluting it down to 1:16; I just use what's in my bucket. ONR simply rocks!

OK your frustrations are over..im not trying to sell you my product, but i am a carwash and detailing distributor in nj. i also subcontract in dealers. i have searched high and low for good glass cleaners and now i finally have it. with my glass cleaner and huck towels does the PERFECT job guarenteed!!! no BS, when u use this product on the inside glass, after 2 weeks u only need a microfiber towel thats dry to wipe it.. it also helps with the fingerprints. also good on tv's, monitors, nav screens, eye glasses, shower doors and much more..the glass cleaner is called GAMBA GOLD GLASS CLEANER.. i am here to help the consumer.. i also have spray wax that u can cut 1 to1 and make body shine all for the same price...i try to have the best products thats quick and easy and excellent priced. any questions u can email me at [email protected] or call KARL at 908-421-4282

Thanks everyone!
Looks like this has been a chore for everyone!
One last question what is the best product to wash these glass towels with when you put them in the wash?

I just use regular liquid laundry soap then some white vinegar in the rinse.

The Blackfire Microfiber detergent is great.
Woosh is great too but only available in Canada..

Micro Restore and Detailer's Pride will leave some residue.

No fabric softeners of any kind should be used! Vinegar is okay.

Wash the mf frist.

On the exterior, I've founds that windows are left streak free with a DPRWG wash. Wash the car with a grout sponge, use a wet MF towel to wipe a majority of the DPRWG water off, then a waffle weave for the remainder.

On the inside, I use Stoner's Invisible Glass and, the yellow MF towel that comes inside the Meguiar's clay bar kit. Clean small sections at a time, don't try to wipe the entire window down with big sweeping motions. Concentrate on a 16" x 16" area at a time, flipping the towel as you go to get a fresh side.

I'd like to get the Invisible Glass windshield wand (whatever it's called) as I have a tough time getting the inside of the windshield perfect. I can't get my arm in a position where I can get optimal pressure and a consistent wiping motion.
I have 2 of the Stoners Glassmasters. They work very well. I would try a spritz of distilled water first. Use pressure and you will know when you are done. The glass wont fight you anymore!
