Window, door stains from acid q?

Thanks Setec. I'll try the IPA first with the 70% isopropyl alcohol without water.

I would read the cautionary thread by Mike Phillips and then try the least aggressive method 1st.

70% IPA can do bad things to paint, especially in an application like this where you will likely be using a lot of it on smaller areas and longer contact times than you would see when using it as a wipedown.

Update:

I did a wipe down using 70% IPA straight up and did not work on the windows. I have not tried this on the car paint with fear of messing up the paint after reading Mike's thread on the IPA dilution.

I do not if I should even try the mineral spirits at least on the windows.

What do the stains feel like on the windows? Do they feel sticky? Raised? Nothing?

When talking about stains, the stain is either topical, that is on the top surface or it's below surface which means whatever the offending chemical is it has penetrated INTO the surface.

From the looks of the pictures, I'd agree with what others have said... turn it over to insurance.

My guess is the only thing that's going to fix the stains in the glass is to abrade the glass with a glass polish that contains Cerium Oxide.

:)

My gut feeling right now is just to let my insurance handle this. I'll post back for an update.

Thanks guys.
