I think these limits only apply to cars. If you have a SUV or truck only the front side windows have the 28% limit but you can go as dark as you want on back and rear windows.
 
killr- on both of our cars, the rear windows don't roll down. technically we can go as dark as we want because they can't get a light meter to latch onto the window.... right?
 
Had mine done today...........not to happy :-(

Too many streaks from the soap or whatever they spray on the glass before the actual application of the film, they said they would disappear in a few days......
not to sure of that.......
anyone have those?? and did they disappear after according to them DRYING????

First they gotta catch us. Between the Fl sun and immediately lowering all windows if pulled over, I suspect they will leave us alone. One of my best friends works for BSO, and another for FHP, so I hope I am covered.

Bill, streaks will disappear. Look for any fingers (areas where the tint is not adhering and where you can see white or space between tint and glass).

an almost perfect job except for the streaks.......:o

also........paper towels and stoner invisible glass a good combo???

Bill, are you asking should you use Stoner's plus paper towels, or was it OK for the shop you visited to use it?

Read somewhere that you should NOT use paper towels as they have too much oils and lubricants from the manufacturing process in them. Newspaper seems to work well (and favored by the pro's) but I always use Stoner's with a good quality MF or waffle weave MF.
 
i've given up on stoner's IG. yes it does leave a nice clean glass surface, but take a damp mf and wipe across that clean glass. there are all sorts of waterspots still there that the IG won't take off. When your car has as much glass as my tC does (all glass roof), this gets to be a MAJOR annoyance.

the DP krystal vision glass cleaner gets up more than IG does, but alas, not all of them :(
 
As soon as I can use up my supply of IG I'm eager to try the DP Krystal Vision, it seems to be well liked by a lot of forum users. Alas I have too many bottles of IG to give up now. :o

they told me it was ok .......stoners and paper towels, i also read somewhere also about the negative paper towel ........

i dont want to scratch the tint......:(
 
the stoners is safe to use on tint, but plexus would be better. i wouldn't recommend paper towel because of the lint. you should also wait 72 hours before rolling down the window or even wiping it. if you wipe it and the film hasn't had time to adhere to the glass you could move it and cause bubbles or even kink the tint.

and as killer said, the streaks will disappear, it will take a while for the moisture to evaporate and the streaks will be gone too

Great thanks......i have a micro towel for glass that i'll use. i have 4 cans of stoner, so i should use that up first......

thay said to park in the sun a few days to get the streaks dry...thats what i'll do today......thanks guys.....:cheers:
 
Having my back glass tint re- done....don't like the white spots coming up, i took it back this morning and they agreed, dust/dirt they said.....although i know the rear glass is a P.I.T.A. to do.

it was just too much for me to swallow....im not a ball breaker but whats right is right and i couldn't live with those defects why should I?....on the top, bottom L & R sides it terrible to my eyes and i believe theres.......

We'll see tomorrow how much an improvement it is, the film they put monday should be fairly easy to remove, its only 5 days old.....

try Plexus on your tint. I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

Also have NOVUS PLASTIC CLEAN AND SHINE.......Same as Plexus??

Are you familiar with this product??

Am I familar with Novus ??? I should have been asking that question. I have been using the 3 polishes for many years. Some of the best going. I use to compete in stereo shows and had a hidden amp rack covered in plexiglass. It always got scratched on the carpet when moving out. Novus was my go to ... very hard to find locally but very good stuff.

Plexus's biggest difference is it is slightly slicker, and an aerosol. I love it on headlamps and taillamps to keep them looking new.

So since i have the Novus already, would that be a good substitute for plexus till i run out of Novus???

Also what about Stoners on the tint....??

Novus #1 will work well. Stoners also works well. I also like Sprayway and the new DP Krystal Vision. Lots of good choices .....

The Stoners is suppose to be safe on tint but I found that the Plexus gives a slicker finish than the stoners, so I use the stoners on the outside and Plexus on the inside.
