I'm not sure how much this has been discussed but here it goes. I'm looking into window film and I have narrowed it down to two choices. Llumar vs. Suntek .. Llumar CTX which is there ceramic at 40% or 20% and Suntek Carbon at 35% or 20%. The state law here in NC is 35% give or take a few numbers for calibration reasons. My car is Silver 2012 R-line, black interior. Would love as much input as possible and pictures would only make things better. Oh yeah..... Prices. Two different shops, First one was for Suntek. Two guy operation, kinda weird location "off of a side street" in the same building as a lawn mower business. Price there was $290 cash only. The other shop was for Llumar, very nice updated shop. Show room that included other things for sale. Prices were $190 for 35% carbon and $275 for 20% CTX ceramic. Both tints come with a lifetime warranty

I had suntek with no problems for 3 years before I had to take it off because it was illegal. I think any name brand tint will so just fine even though others swear by the most expensive stuff.

I have used SunTek for over 40 cars to date with no issues. Can't speak on llumar, however we plan to acquire their line of tint in the near future.

I'd go with the 20% ceramic on the rear 3 and 40 on the front two. Ceramic tint deflects heat and it's noticeable.

The big names (3M, Llumar, Suntek, FormulaOne, etc) should all be fine. It is the choice in installer that can be good or bad.

As far as differences in %, there is a youtube video of a guy who put several different shades on a window to show the difference. I haven't gotten my BRZs done yet, I had assumed that because there is about 2 square feet of actual window space that heat wouldn't be a problem... Yeah they need to get tinted before summer actually comes to atlanta...

I'd go with the 20% ceramic on the rear 3 and 40 on the front two. Ceramic tint deflects heat and it's noticeable.

If he puts 20% on in a state where 35% is the limit eventually he'll be pulling it off.

I got a ticket for that in IA paid the fine and never removed the tint. I have never been pulled over in Ne because of my tint and I had 5% on a Supra. Now I have 20% state law is 35 I think but that lets to much light through. It's your choice if want to take the dare lol

I have had no problems with Suntek on a car that is outside 24/7 and went through -30 to 110 weather.

I live in NC, have had SunTek on my car (legal 35%) for almost 7 years and it's been great.

I'd advise against getting anything darker than the legal limit here unless they can make it look exactly like factory--the inspection shops will be cool with it (some of them have even waived the extra $10 fee for me), but the police/state troopers here won't.

Oh, and if you live in Charlotte; I HIGHLY recommend Lightning Mike's off Monroe Rd.

Absolutely agree! The difference between 20 and 35 is VERY noticeable

My avatar is 20% and if you want I can post a pic of what it looked like just done in sunlight at noon. I was stopped and it dialed in at 13% but the officer was kind to just let me go.

Thanks guys..... A lot. Great comments and suggestions keep them coming. On the side note. The Llumar Ceramic comes in 40% and 20% as I said before. My car dialed in at 76% and with the carbon Llumar 35% he said it would put me at about 32%. Now if I go with the Ceramic at 40%, it should put me at around the same being that it is more reflective shouldn't it?

I'm not sure, but would tend to think it would be. See if the shop will throw a test patch on to give you an idea. Mine did with the 5 and 20 so I could decide.
