Yesterday I got my Gtechniq G1 glass coating from the Fed Ex guy. After reading about this I knew I wanted to try it out so I placed an order. This stuff is supposed to last up to 3 years or 30,000 miles.

My windshield had a lot of wiper marks and scratches which made it hard to see at night and during the rain… almost impossible during a night rain.

Polishing:
-Glass polish
-Polish pads (cut down to fit my 5” 3m bp
-IPA to clear it

Coating:
-G4 glass polish This cleared any remaining residue from the heavier glass polish
-G1 (The actual coating) x3 coats
-G2 (Residue remover) This is basically IPA

Before Shots:

After heavy polish before G4
You can see a weird ring in the glass here. This is residue from the glass polish that would only be removed by G4

Thanks for looking, I will try and keep everyone updated on the durability on the coating.

Jon

Wow your windshield was pretty bad huh? Looks a lot better. Nice work. Suppose to last 3 years huh? I'm definitely interested in the durability.

Ya it was pretty bad. It was bad from the previous owner and got worse as time went on.

The correction wasnt perfect but much much better.

Ya Ill try and take a video of the water shedding (I still havent seen it because it is still curing) and a video of it in a rain storm.

Any update for us?

I PMed another forum member last night who has had it on his windshield for just over a year and he told me although it is not as 'strong' as it was back then, that it is still doing what it was made to do. He went on to say for the ~$20even if you had to apply it once a year it was worth it.

So I'm just about ready to pull the trigger and order some up, just looking for last minute postings about the companies product line.

Mark it is worth every penny and then some! It is still working like the day I applied it. I have now put it on every car in my family and my girlfriends family. I drive tons of cars for my other job so I'll go from a car with it to one without it and it makes me love it that much more. I really can't sing it's praises enough!

Ps buy before may 23! A little birdie told me the prices are going up.

PAR, I'm most impressed with your results polishing the glass!!! OMG that is a lot of correction achieved! Polishing glass is always a problem.

You will love the G4!

That looks really good, Jon!

I wonder how that LC glass polish kit compares to the "Rhodite" polishing kit that Eastwood sells? I've been eyeing that for a while now to take on scratched and etched glass.

Thank you Jacob, Polishing the glass was certainly work but I enjoyed doing it. I had never polished glass before. I know its not perfect but Im happy with it. Afterall the car has 120k on the clock. And yes I am loving the Gtechniq on the windshield! I actually just landed an account applying it to 120+ work vans (10-12 per month).

Thanks Shiny. I have never seen the Rhodite kit before but I am really happy with the LC one.

So you would say this process actually eliminated %90+ of the wiper marks, just not the numerous chips? That's what I'm taking from the pictures. Thanks.

Very cool Jon! Nice work and thank you for sharing! The windshield on my Green SL is in terrible shape... Just didn't want to try to polish scratches out of glass so haven't done anything about it.

So 3 years?!? Is there any fine print about using your winshield wipers lowering that time? If not thats incredible.

Thanks Corey! I know you will be able to do it... afterall if I was able to then anyone can with any basic machine polishing knowledge. And I am sure they dont give a 3 year 30k mile warranty but I havent noticed any deterioration yet.

Ya I would agree with that statement. I was able to get 90+% of the wiper marks out but the little nicks or rock chips I didnt remove.

Here is the water beading/shedding after roughly 3 months. My car sits outside 24/7.

Very interesting. I am either gonna do something like this, or polish.

Thanks for posting - especially the good pics that clearly showed all the scratches (before and after).

I really want to check out the GTechniq products. There expensive but I've never heard anything bad about them.

I want AG to get the GTechniq product lines. I'd love to try their wheel coating.

OP, nice work. Have you tried Ceriglass as a polish? I'm just curious how it stacks up to the polishing kit that you used.

I've tried several times and posted several post about GTechniq products but was told by AG to not discuss them here.

As for the G1,I've had it applied on vehicles for 1-1/2years and one vehicle over 50,000miles and it's still going strong!

I'm heavily loaded up with all GTech's offering-They ALL work that well ;)
