Winter tire question...

I usually buy all-season but this year decided to spend a little more on winter tires. Been reading that they should be taken off when the temp gets around 65-70 degrees as they just aren't made for heat and can be ruined. Can anyone confirm that?

If it is only that high for a few days and then it is supposed to get cold and snowy again, I would leave them on. If winter is over for you, take them off.

The reason is that the rubber is so soft on winter tires that they will wear down very fast on warm dry roads.

Go outside and feel the tread of the tires... it will feel almost like chewing gum, or drag slicks. Then feel the tread of an all season, it will be very hard compared to the winter tire.

a good rule of thumb for your area is put them on after the first few light snows or after a major snow, and take them off with a chance of some snow left...

you will encounter some snow with the all season tires, but the winter tires will be preserved... following this you should be able to get 3-4 seasons with average driving

Wow i must be in florida a long time,Winter tires are a thing of the past i don't miss .But when i did use them i used to also put them on at the first onset of winter and would't take them off till mid Feb but then again we lived on Long Island
