Winter wash dilemma, need suggestions

Washed it today with a laser touch less. Omg it looks like a white kid with orange and black freckles! It is bad.

I then dried with waffle weave and Meg's WWWA and then wiped down with DG RWWA almost went through both bottles. Gonna need a ton of decon comes spring.

This winter sux big time.

I hate letting my car go week(s) on end without decent conditions to wash it in.

I feel your pain. This weekend is going to warm up. I'll use the coin-opp then use ONR.

Bummer about the rail dust....which is why my current Silverado will (hopefully) be the last white vehicle I buy. I would buy a weekend only car in white, or another white vehicle for the right deal, but I won't seek it out.

I prepped my truck with Collinite 845 and there is rail dust all over mine. Nothing keeps that stuff off.

You said your garage doesn't have a drain inside, so you can't wash it in there, but do you have a driveway that you're able to use for car washing? (I've lived places that prohibited that sort of thing.) When faced with this problem myself in the past, I've dressed in my winter gear, (Thermals, insulated cover-alls, topped with rain gear.) used warm water in multiple buckets, with multiple mitts, and went to work on it.

Nothing fancy. No drying, or detailing, but I would spray the undercarriage more than usual if I'd been driving on de-icing solution.

(Hey, it's my first post! YAY!)

I am going to coat it this spring with DP paint, wheel and glass coating and then use Sonax PNS and BSD to maintain.

My driveway is sloped down under the house and the temps have been cold using water in the driveway creates an icing situation which then turns the driveway into a one way slide.View attachment 25345

Winter washing? You mean raining all day long in Chicago. Best car wash everrrrrrrrrr.

it's been so cold this year that even simple trips to the touchless wand wash have been impossible, this is the worst weather we've had in years.

Yesterday was our first day above freezing so visited the wand wash to take care of the chunks in the wheelwells & undercarriage then went home & did a bucket wash. Now my altima is looking good (well...acceptable) again, at least for today until it rains.

it's been a long miserable winter, it can't end soon enough but I'm pleased to say my Duragloss/Collinite winter prep has held up very well. still have strong beading after 4+ months of salt & ice.

I won't hit the touchless wash just yet as the snow is still melting and it would be a waste of time and money because I'd just run right into the the big water spots. I prepped the car with a sealant and some wax before the winter and have been using the touchless wash all winter to just knock off the heavy salt and cleaning the undercarriage. I am waiting for the spring weather break, which is when the claying will begin. I have not done a good bucket wash in a good while now because it's been too cold.

I'm stocking up on my supplies now (orders have been arriving this week). I decided to upgrade from the Gilmour foam gun to the AR Blue electric PW and their Canon foam gun (wish me luck).

Gonna hit the touch less laser again tomorrow morning, haven't driven it since I washed it.

After I dry with DG, gonna hit it with Adams Quick Sealant before I return to NYC.

I am going to pick up the AR 1900 Psi EPW with foam cannon too.

Mine AR is scheduled to arrive on Monday. Hopefully, I get to use it. I received the foam canon yesterday - quality build. According to someone on this forum, it's made by MTM for AR.

So we have been getting hammered with low temps and snow in the NE. Today is 29 and sunny, the dilemma is as follows:

13 Charger RT Black top and 13 Durango RT Black top daily drivers both parked outside, both filthy with snow and salt from NYC streets. Currently wearing DG501/601 and topped with D156 after every wash. Only have access to hand car washes and swirl-o-matics, no coin operated self service bays and no drains in garage to wash it myself. Hand wash does not use power washer to remove bulk of salt and dirt, swirl-o-matic does use power washer.

Last wash took both of them to hand wash and they scratched the painted wheels with too much pressure and dirty towels. So what do I do? Leave them till I can wash them, swirl-o-matic with power washer, hand wash with no power washer? Any suggestions?
I went all waterless this winter. Used a custom formula of mildly abrasive spray and very gentile agitation with a clean microfiber towel. In regards to polishing I used a heat lamp to bring the vehicles surface up to around 50-60 degrees before I began working. It was a miserable and slow process but, as you know you cannot take 4 months off of income. Hope this helps for the next horrible winter!
