Winterizing = FK1000P on top of ceramic coat?

All,

Long story short...I coated my daughter's car this summer, prior to her going back up to school in Bnghamton, NY. She cam back this past weekend, so I had the chance to do a decon wash.

After the wash, the car beaded just like new, no problem there (I was worried, because the coating was stored for about 8 months in my fridge, and had lost some properties which made it tough to buff out).

Since I know for a fact that the car won't be washed again until the winter break (told her no car wash swirlomatics please), I decided to try to use FK1000P as a "topper", just to give it a chance to sacrifice itself to the winetr elements (snows alot up there).

Anyone try this before? Wondering if I am wasting my time. The car sure seemed quite slick after the coat of my "sacrificial" FK1000P.

Thoughts, anyone?

And yes, I will probably be reaching out to any of you pros here that may be in the Binghamton area, that could do a decent job of deconning it before I see t again ;)

The risk is that the ceramic will shed the FK soon after. It wouldn't hurt anything but I'm not sure you'll see real benefit from it.
 
The ceramic coating would be much better without the FK1000p. FK is a wonderful product but not as strong as most ceramic coatings. I would have topped it with IGL Premier and called it a day.

I agree with the others. There is no reason to put anything over the coating. It will last thought the winter just fine. If it wouldn't last through a winter in those conditions, it would be no different than any other sealant.

Due to weather conditions, my vehicles never get washed more than 3~4 times over the winter. After a few good hand washings in the spring the coating's self cleaning and water behavior returns just like new. I'll typically go nearly two years on a coating.

A good wash with a quality soap is often all the de-conning a coating needs. I coated my daughter's car 18 months ago with CQuartz UK. Despite the car only being washed every couple months, it still looks great and all the properties of the coating are there.
 
Thanks much...didn't think about the fact that the coating may actually "stop" the sealant from holding.

Appreciate the comments and experiences, and will reply to the why!!!!, with "why not!!!!!", since I didn't think there would be any harm done.

The only stupid question is the one not asked.
