I know we do not have to worry about this in Fla, but I am curious on what all must go on before winter to your car.
I have put a link to our experts info on the site, but I would love to hear what everyone has planned to "winterize" their own vehicle.
Do you put in rubber mats to protect your carpet, add an extra 3 coats of WG or double coat to protect the paint...
Let us know what it takes to get your car to survive winter!

Winterizing Your Car's Exterior

Even though my car stays garaged when the weather is nasty, I still do some stuff for the winter. This year I will most likely switch from wax to duragloss 105. I also take out the oem floormats and put rubber ones in like you said meghan.

everyone should remember to keep on eye on tire pressure in the changing seasons, as they will fluctuate alot more during big temperature swings.

Paint - #601 + #105 and then AW once a month if possible.

Wheels - Poorboy's Ex-P

Last winter I used PB EX-P (2 coats), and 2 coats Natty's.
This year it'll be DG 501 and 2 coats Collinite 845. I use PB EX-P on the wheels too.

My 20" chromies get put away and are replaced by the 18" oem's. I leave the rubber mats in all year long to protect hte carpet. The paint already has 501/601/105 and the occasional AW. I am going to add ONR this winter to the cleaning regime.

My Tacoma and Jeep will both get 2 coats of WGDPS and then 2 coats of Collinite #476. I might throw on some #16 for the heck of it. The rims will get DP Wheel Glaze. I'll be using DP Four-In-One to keep them clean.

Not looking forward to this again.:(

That is why all of you eventually move down here!

Hey that's not funny!! This is a reminder of what we're about to face in the not too distant future. Here's a few more of my local car wash. I use it to hose down my trucks once in a while. I walked into the automatic to get the pic (I'd never use that kind of wash). I know the owner and while I was taking pics she was using a screwdriver to try to break apart the frozen quarters in the change bin. She looked like Nanook of the North. It was pretty funny.

For me it will be 601+105 then topped with 845. Wheels will be getting EX-P x2. I will be using ONR for my washes.

Should be enough for me to get by. Got the g/f's Explorer almost done, I need to add a coat of 845 yet and she's ready to go. Just need to do mine now!

DG105x2 topped with Collinite 476S one one ride.
Klasse Twinsx2 topped with Megs#16 on another.
## Jetsealx2 topped with (not sure what yet) on a third car...

Stang & Fusion both get #16 x2. Maybe do WG+#16 on them not sure yet (kinda hate the 12-24 hour wait).

My plan is
Jetseal x 2
845 x 2
ONR wash w AW
Rubber Mats

How does everyone remove snow and ice from hood/roof/trunk with out scratching or marring? Those snow brushes are rough.

So I see you are still are getting mild winters in Chicagoland :D

This winter will be 501...601 and 105..topped with collinite 885 or 915....

the wheels will get 501 and 885....and AW when I can due to weather....

wash will be a rinse spray and DG Marine detailer to finish it and AW when I can..

I mix a solution of soap and water in a spray bottle and spray the cars and trucks down....let dwell a minute or so and just use a rinse spray at the wand wash.....then wipe down with 521 with a little AW mixed in...

Exactly what I have done this year. Dg 501 and Collinite 845:)

I cant wait for snow! Hope we get at least a few good ones.. Last year was a real bummer..

Hard to believe I look at it that way when I've gotta work out in the stuff all winter long, but its easy to stay warm.. Trying to stay cool in the summer is what sucks..

Haven't really decided what my combo is going to be for the daily drivers this winter.. Doesn't really matter because I have a heated shop to work in with a hot water hookup and a floor drain so I can :buffing: all winter.. :righton:
