You see this advertised on TV almost every night, along with the infamous automobile and multiple drug ads, but does this stuff work?

Anyone know what's actually in it?

:thankyousign:

What really piqued my interest is the masking tape they put on the Volvo for the car wash demonstration. While we carry a ton of different trim restorers and protectants that actually work, we don't currently have a masking tape that can withstand 50 automatic car washes.

I've tried it and it makes really faded plastic trim look way better than any of the stuff I've tried in the past. How long it lasts or what's in it is anyone's guess. All I can say is if you do try it, DO NOT sniff the bottle. You've been warned.

Now I wanna buy a bottle, just to sniff it! ! Haha

Looks like they use it on headlights also :wow::laughing:

I have to see how that works.

The worst part about the commercial is when they get some random guy to say he has been detailing cars professionally for thirty years and "Wipe New" is the most revolutionary product he has seen. I guess this just proves yet again that people will say anything for a small fee.
But what about Detail Doctor ? They got the guy from that show Counting Cars to sell this crap on the late night infomercials. I know its all about the money but why would you want to associate yourself with a product that obviously sucks. I can almost feel myself getting more cynical.

I have also tried it, on plastics and as a sealant for headlights. Works on most plastics. Good beading on headlights and gives clear and clean image. For $20 you can't go wrong.

Have you even tried it? The guy that owns this Ford F-150 doesn't think it obviously sucks.. Time will tell though.

No way, really?

Yeah, really. The owner of this truck asked me If I had anything that lasts longer than what I used on his truck last time. (UTTG)

As I told him no I didn't, jokingly I said he could be a guinea pig for "Wipe New", he said he has nothing to lose but the $20 and it wasn't a big deal so I tried it. Here's what happened.

Not all products sold on TV through infomercials are bad but given the marketing they are always over priced. You can often get many in stores in more generic packaging (like Might Putty).

Let us know how that holds up, Dave...I just presumed it was a junk product because if it sounds too good to be true...

Wow, it actually works and it looks . . good. I've got to see what this looks like after a month and or two cars washes.

Hey tuscarora dave, how long did it take for the plastic to turn white\gray since putting UTTG? I was thinking about getting this to use on future vehicles but now leaning towards Refinish Restorer. I've seen your work and it's great, just wondering what process you use for the plastic parts. Do you clean the plastic first with APC, IPA, etc and then UTTG? Guess you have no update on the Wipe New you placed on that truck? Just curious...

Thanks for any info!

Dave, that picture is pretty impressive. It almost looks like that stuff is a dye? Curious to see how it holds up.
