Wiping off M105

I'm using M105 and sometimes you spend just as much time taking it off (not in the sun but in the garage) as I do putting it on. For the difficult spots, I spritz a little GG Spray On Car Wash to remove it. Is that okay on will this cause a problem when I go to use polish?

It won't cause issues, but if you're having that much of an issue removing it, sounds like you're using too much product. A spritz of a QD will and can help, but you shouldn't be having to 'work' to get it off.

I am still always reminding myself to use less product, youll get it.
 
That won't be a problem. Like others mentioned above, try using less product.
 
I have been getting the hang of M105 over the past 4 vehicles....not a pro.

I have found that I am able able to finish it down enough with 8 passes, that it wipes off very easily. When I have an area that I know looks thick, I just go over it one more time to spread it out.

Sounds to me your over working it.
I never do more than 3-4 passes then wipe it off.
You can't work large areas, sometimes 2x2 area is to large.
Try cutting your work area to down to 16x16 and see what that does for you.
Keep trying because the product is worth the effort IMO
 
Thanks for all of your feedback. All of your answers seem to make a lot of sense. HateSwirls, it seems as if smaller drops won't go far enough but Think you're right about the 16x16 sections.
 
Less is more. use very little after the pad is primed.
Here is what a panel should look like after 105

This pic was taken right after I polished the whole door.
As you can see just a dusting of 105 is all that is left.
I have always used 105 like this since it came out on hundreds of cars.
Never had a problem wiping 105 off.

Start out with four small drops, if it's not enough to do a 16x16 area then add a little more on your next area, do this until it works for you.

If you decide to look for a different compound that is much more user friendly and wipes off like a polish look into Menzerna FG400.

Yes, me and my crazy self also have FG400. I figured since I started with Megs. I thought I'd finish with it and learn to master it as well.:xyxthumbs:
 
Meguries Ultimate Compound works very good too,in fact almost as good as 105, they are related in a sense.
I've used it on some really bad paints that had bad swirls, scratches and the results were fantastic.
The work time is much longer than the 105, it wipes of with ease and you can buy in anywhere.

Give it a try , you may love it as much as I do:)
 
Ultimate compound, polish, and wax are really very under-rated products and very inexpensive and available locally at any Walmart. For most people with daily drivers , these are all you will ever need. Add ultimate quick wax (d156) and you can have a great looking car at a very inexpensive price.

10 bucks for a compound found down road from you is hard to beat.
I have the m105 but lately I only reach for the UC.

You can also try just plain water spritzed on the panel to reactivate M105 instead of using more product. This will make it a little easier to wipe off too.
 
I've been using very small beads as some of you recommended. It seems to be helping. I just want to be sure that the compound is able to work the paint with it spread so thin. I'm also going to try the water spritz also.

Totally totally agree!

I've come to the conclusion that (to some) "U" products being OTC, it just isn't 'boutique' enough.

I also agree with this, haven't tried Ultimate wax but I do have/use/like UC and have had great results with it!

I have to try UC and UP with my GG DA. What do you guys recommend foam or MF pads? How does it compare to D300?

For my friends that just want to go to the local Autozone or Walmart, I always recommend Megs GC, Megs Clay Kit, UP,UC and UPW.

I love UPW.
