witch wheel cleaner do you use?

I know ya'll are going to think I'm crazy but I use Ajax, the powder. 99 cents a can and no scrubbing. Suds it up on the tire, let it sit and rinse off. Tire looks like a new one.

Really - never tried it - where did you learn this and how long have you been doing this?!?!?!

Are we not talking about wheel cleaners and not tire cleaners?

You might want to start your own thread on tire cleaners.

Elbow grease and soap and water still may be the best!!

i like to use the wheel/tire cleaners that are AIO. saves me from using two products.
1. advanced auto brand. (very good)
2. eagle one wheel tire. (again, very good)
3. mothers foaming wheel & tire cleaner. ( have a few, waiting to try. heard good things about this one)

When I purchased my Mercedes, there were huge patches of baked on brake dust on the inside of the wheels. The standard OTC wheel cleaners, polishes, and clay didn't make a dent in it. I read about this product called Brown Royal from this place out of Tampa and gave it a shot. I sprayed it on, waved my wheel brush at it, rinsed and the wheel looked new. It's not really recommended for bare metal wheels though.

Some GooGone to get the old wheel weight tape off, clay, polish and sealant, makes soap and water my wheel cleaner of choice now.

I have in my arsenal:

1. DP wheel cleaner (regular upkeep)
2. Sonax (mid level cleaner)
3. Meguiars Wheel Brightner (neglected/very dirty)

I use Sonax Full effect, CG Citrus Wheel Gel, APC diluted, or Super Degreaser diluted 4 or 5:1. All work really well and it really depends on the wheels I'm working with. If they aren't bad I'll just use some apc and some brushes. If they are bad I'll use the Sonax.

I use Griots wheel cleaner. Does a great job and doesn't break the bank.

I have used SSG and Blackfire so far and both can be used for rims and tires plus they do a great job. I just got some Mothers and will be trying it out this weekend.

I use brown royal too. Its cheap and you can use it on the rims and tires.

Have used almost my whole, first bottle of Sonax Full Effect WC and will be buying more soon. It allows you to let it sit on the wheel for minutes and if it does dry to the wheel it washes off with a little agitation; very safe WC. It is really cool to watch it change colors from lime green to maroon when it reacts with ferrous particles. I have used P21 gel WC and it compares to Sonax but is a little more expensive from what I recall. The DP cleanse-all ext clnr is really good wheels, and excels on tires; it pulls the brown right out of tires. Just make sure you wet the wheel and mix the DP 50/50 to be safest on wheels. Megs hot rims is always a good fall back for me and I can grab it at the store if I run out of WC. I would have to put Sonax and P21 as my two favs that I have used so far.:)
