Wofgang tire gel

You need to let tire gel dry for at least one hour before driving. I sugeest even 2 hours.

:iagree: and also apply thin........and re-wipe a few times till its almost all off the pad......

I let it dry for more than 1 hour. I tried again what I thought was using less and still sling down the side of the car. I am going to try a small dot and see what happens.

This was my favourite tire gel for a long time, then I found sonus which beat it but now I'm going to try Ultima
Unfortunately as much as I love a french companies products, their tyre gel is solvent based and thus is a no no these days

What I loved the most about WG gel was that it never washed off, after a month it still had some gloss and the tires never went brown
My process was to leave it on for a month or more before washing, cleaning and reapplying the gel

So with this new formula for 2008, how much better is the protection and is there more polymers in it than water based silicone?

Sling is caused by people using too much - silicone does not bond to rubber, the polymer does
Always let the tires sit to one to ten hours before driving, gotta let the gel bond and cure.

No matter what, a tyre cleaner spray from germany is used before application of the gel
Not even hot soap, pre soak or foaming brush at a coin op car wash totally cleans a tyre

I am about to try using a heat gun to open the pores of the rubber before applying the tire cleaner
Then heat it again and apply the gel
Let the tyre cool, put on a second coat then get out on the road for a month and see how the heat gun treated tire goes against the tire on the other side of the car.
Cause rubber is porous right, so best to open the pores before applying it and let pores close before driving
That should lock in the protective gel

I just lightly mist the tire with meguiars spray hot shine.then i lightly mist my cheap 1 dollar tire shine applicator and let it sit for 10 minutes or so and i havent had any sling problems. My friends use a simular method with Black magic and have very simular results.

I really wanna try WG tire dressing too but I need other things before I spend $20 on a tire dressing. Ive been using Stoners Tire shine with much success and its made with polymers as well. Gives the perfect sheen, and when applied thin, dries to a nice semi-gloss. You can aplly more to make it glossier but its a much classier finish then most OTC tire dressings. Im not into Ultra gloss tire shine but when I was I use the Megs NXT and that was super shiny and lasted a while too, I gotta say. Ive also heard good things about hte optimum gel, but again its a hi gloss finsh and im not too into it. I just got some Poorboys natural finish for my interior and Im gonna try that on the tires But Id imagine withs durabilty to be nil on the exterior. Anyone use it on tires?

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I've heard good things about Optimum's Opti-Bond Tire Gel. I've never used it personally, but it's water based and supposedly pretty good.

I got a free bottle of the Wolfgang from Meghan from a contest I won, and I have to say I like it. I haven't seen any sling yet, and it looks great. Not too glossy, not too flat. Just a nice all around shine to me.

Great stuff. It conditions the rubber also. Never had a issue with slinging.
