This was under a car cover in the garage of a recent new client. I was working on another car for him and took a peek under the cover. It was in pretty good shape, but it was clear that the paint was oxidizing and it had some work that could be done. Especially on the aluminum under the hood. The before pictures really didn't show much since it was already looking pretty good, but I got a couple that show the problems.

I hit it with the new Meguiar's Ultimate compound I picked up at AutoZone. That polish is a great choice for people looking for a good cutting compound off the shelf. It definitely did the trick on the oxidation. And I used the Wolfgang Metalwerks products to polish up the aluminum to a mirror shine. I really wish I had taken before pictures of that. It was dull and non reflective. Now it shines like new!

The owner was really happy with the finished result.

Lots of chrome to polish, but it came out looking great! Gotta love Wolfgang on red!

That 1955 Chevy came out gorgeous!! :dblthumb2:

My first car was a 1956 Chevy Belair 4 door. 265 V8 and a 2 speed power-glide transmission... A huge car by today's standards and lots of leg room especially in the back seat...;)

yeah, that whole car was restored perfectly. It was definitely not a cheap job. The relocated the battery and cleaned up a couple other things in the engine bay to make it look really nice. The whole interior was just outstanding too. Digital dash and outstanding audio and everything. The paint job was just top notch. It was a fine example of what a $15K paint job should look like.

I've told him he needs to get some Crager wheels on it to really complete the look. He bought it from the guy who restored it and has owned it for about 10 years. The wheels were already on it and he has never been a fan. I sent him a photoshop job of what some nice five spoke wheels would look like on it and I think he is going to find some.

Yeah, but what it lacks in rubber it makes up for in chrome. lol The final detail takes a little longer because you have to chase down every streak and smear, but man it looks great when it is done right. :) I love the classics!

Thanks for posting such a cool car and nice detail work to complete the look.

Anthony,

I don't remember all the digital readouts in my 56 Belair....they must have discontinued it before mine was built!

thats a sweet 55

:) Must have been!

I actually like it when they modernize these old classics. I think it is cool that someone went out and created a digital dash for this car. I like they put a fancy stereo in it too so it has most of the creature comforts when you are cruising around town. That front seat is nicer than my couch, I tell ya! I'd love to drag state street in that bad boy. I wasn't even a twinkle in my 6 year old father's eye in 1955, but I absolutely would have loved to be ten years old that year so I could have been fully immersed into the muscle car era. That would have been just awesome to behold...

I absolutely agree!

I love it when I see a gorgeous classic that's retained its beautiful lines yet everything else if completely new embracing what today's technology has to offer.

502ci - 502hp, 6 speed manual, engineered suspension etc, etc....

I'd love to make a sleeper classic. Something that looks totally stock till you pop the hood and see the a motor tricked out by Lingenfelter. ;) Oh if I had the money.... I can see it now. A massive garage with the last three years of the '60s represented in every model made. ;)

we should probably start a new thread on this but if we are talking old chevys i would go with a 64 duece with a sb2 setup for the hotrod. wouldnt mind having a 62 impala 409 4 speed (who wouldn't) and a 70 camaro rs ss 396 4 speed. then i have a list of fords too lol

I love seeing these 50's & 60's cars. Reminds me of High School.

Wonderful work on the Chevy. They never looked that good 45 years ago.
