Wolfgang DGPS 3.0 - Winter Test

it will hold up..i just tried to remove it from my wifes highlander...i could really see it coming off after CG CWG and the elastrofoam block...it was a white milky substance haniging around when i used the elastrofoam block....i love this stuff and it will last..
Hope it wasn't your clear coat coming off. White milky substance, like what you get while wet sanding.

I have been using WG Fusion since early Spring, but today I used WGDGPS 3.0 for the 1st time in almost a year.........I forgot how easy it goes on/off and the great, sharp shine it leaves. :xyxthumbs:

Been a while since I've updated this, but there will be an update coming this weekend.:xyxthumbs:

Drove the 450+ miles back to Chicago. Roads were wet from snow for maybe the first 125 miles.

November 25, 2012

Drove the 450+ miles back to school. Roads were wet from snow for the last 200 miles. Got lazy over break and didn't take advantage of the nice weather back at home, and then it got cold. As a result, truck did not receive a hand wash like I was hoping for.:(

December 1, 2012

Truck as been driven for about 500+ miles on snowy, wet, salty roads since 11/4, and has not been washed since then as well.

How things are looking.

At this point, WGDGPS is still going strong and holding up well.:dblthumb2:

Beading is still great and so is the sheeting in most places. Sheeting on the quarter panels has diminished a little, but that was expected given the amount of over spray from the wet roads they receive while driving.

Winter is starting to go into full swing now. So mother nature, bring it on your worst!:bolt:

Not much happened for the next month after this. Drove back home to Chicago. Truck sat most of the time and all the winter grime from driving home stayed on the paint until January 4. Weather was in the 30's-50's during that time.

January 4, 2013

Washed at touchless car wash. Meant to wash it way sooner than this with ONR but lost track of time.

January 11, 2013

ONR wash. Paint never felt grabby and was still slick for the most part. Meant to get a beading/sheeting video from before and after but got distracted by the neighbor.

January 12, 2013

Drove back to school in the UP. Roads were dry for the most part. Only a vary small amount of salt pray.

Now this is where the fun begins and winter officially comes back. It started snowing this night, January 12th, and it still hasn't stopped snowing since then as I type this right now.

January 19, 2013

Still snowing and temps will now be from -10*F to 0* for the next several days. Snow collecting on the tailgate from driving around town tonight.

Today - January 22, 2013

Now today it's -3*F and decided to make sure my truck will still start and get all the snow/ice off of her.

At the point of the ONR wash, I would say that WGDGPS is still going good. Naturally the sides/lower panels and rockers are starting to diminish.

From January 12th to the 22nd, we have had about 40 inches of snow and we're still supposed to get 1-5 inches each day the rest of this week. It will be interesting to see how WGDGPS is going after this week.

What an awesome thread...Your truck still looks fantastic!

I've got a question for you, Chris. In reading through this thread, I see where you've washed your vehicle several times at an automatic touchless carwash.

I'm assuming this car wash sprays soap onto your car and then rinses it off with high-pressure, is that correct? I am new to these forums and everything I've read says that these carwashes should not be used as they will strip off your LSP.

So your vehicle is still protected, even though you've been through the car wash several times?

Thanks.

By the way, do you go to Michigan Tech? I was in Houghton on January 11, the day before you guys got all that snow. I was up there with my son's high school hockey team and posted a few photos I shot onto the photos thread. Houghton Is about 250 miles north of where I live, and I'd forgotten what a quaint, gorgeous little town it really is.

Best,

Steve

I'm never going north.. Lol nice updates!

:iagree: VA is as far north as I ever want to be. Great thread OP!

Wow. Incredible durability through all that mess.

Like I said, it should be interesting to see how it does after this week. It's suppose to warm back up this coming weekend, enough that I can take it to the car wash. I'll be sure to get a beading/sheeting video then.

Steve,

That is correct, the car wash sprays soap, lets it soak, and then uses a high pressure rinse along with a spot free rinse, and then blow dry. I know everyone says the chemicals they use will easily strip your LSP, but I have yet to see the car washes I go to dramatically diminish my LSP's. I'd rather use the car wash then leave all that winter crud on the paint.

And yes, I do go to Tech. It's definitely a nice little town, but the winters can be harsh.

Impressed, I noticed when I just placed an order I could add a sample, so added WG DGPS 3 to try, should look awesome on black flake paint.

Rained that night I got home and drove around in the rain a little the next day, most of it washed off. Since I would just be driving back north again in a couple days, I decided to hold off on a wash.

Blizzard warning for two days and a resulting 20 inches of snow. Probably would have been more if it wasn't for the wind. After this storm our total on the ground was 41 inches and season total a little over 150 inches of snow.

So, we're going on a little over 6 months now since I applied the two coats of WGDGPS. A total of a little over 6,000 miles of driving and the truck is outside 24/7.

One thing that I don't I have mentioned before about this sealant is how it makes the paint look clean even when its dirty. This is evident in quite a few of the pictures. Of course distance, lighting, and viewing angle play a role in that.

In that last set of pictures, you'll notice the sides of the truck are pretty much gone beading wise. Keep in mind that was just a rinse and after each of these washes there is still a fine layer of dirt on the paint. I'll see how the sides look after ONR wash when I head back home for spring break next week. I may end the test there depending on the weather, because it its nice enough I will be applying a spray sealant on the paint. I'm dying to try my bottle of Gtechniq C1.5 Silo Seal.

So, stay tuned and thanks for looking.:dblthumb2:

what a testament to a great product...i get over 6 months of properly prepped and applied WGDGPS...great review man!

Thanks man and yep, its a great product.:xyxthumbs:

:iagree: One of the best sealants there is!!

Thanks again, Chris, for your time and efforts in producing an excellent review...BUT:

I would have never dreamed in a million years you would have used a foam-cannon on the engine bay!!

Haha, I really wish it had been a foam cannon Bob. My alternator and throttle were frozen over from that snow getting in there.

Thanks Bob.:xyxthumbs:
