Wolfgang paint sealant why have you forsaken me?

Dawn will strip paint off my car(s)?

Sorry, should have been more clear.

Dawn will remove the wax(strip)

BUT

Car Cleaning Myth #1

Dishwashing detergent is safe to use to wash your car.
"Dishwashing detergent is meant to remove everything from the surface. That includes stripping the polymers off the paint surface... The effect is similar to what dishwashing soap does to your hands. Too much will dry the skin. On the surface of a car, the same thing occurs; dishwashing soap actually accelerates the oxidation process when used regularly."

12 Car Cleaning Myths

Here is an example product to consider. I am sure every brand has a similar product without the damaging properties that dish soap has.
Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer

I personally have not felt the need to use such a product, as I only use sealant and very seldom apply it. In addition my car is in storage 95 percent of the time.

VERY, VERY helpful and informative, thank you! Reading article for a refresher now :)

OMG, this thread is ridiculous.

What did you think the sealant was going to do if you parked your car out in the rain???

Did you think the sealant was going to be a forcefeild and the water would just fall around the outside of the car ? If water is left to sit on the car, its going to dry. Especially if it only comes in small quantitys, beads will stay on the paint. If there is large amounts of water, the water will sheet off the paint.

WG paint sealant is at the top of its class. If protects your paint with a sacrificial barrier.

Another thing. When you have waterspots on your car like you shown in your pictures, it is best practice to remove them IMMEDIATELY ! Dont wait. if you would have waterless washed them off the car the next day they would have likely easily wiped off. Because you waited so long to wash them off, you gave the minerals time to eat through the paint sealant and then onto the paint where they can etch.

The only reason the product is being brought up here as the culprit is because you honestly have no idea (no disrespect) what a paint sealant or wax is used for.

if you have to leave your car outside and you see waterspots all over it still wet from the rain, you should go outside and flood the car with hosewater, so that it sheets off the car and no standing water droplets are left to dry on there own.

Hey Mobile, would you mind please sending me a private message? I am curious about your insight on Chemical Guys, I have know about them for years and years, but until last week never used their products because honestly 'something' about their company and image/reputation has always left me skeptical. I'm NOT trying to put them down in any way, because I actually just ordered a few GALLONS of their products, including their washes and also the new V7 Optical Paint Sealant.

Perhaps I should just stick with Ultima and Meg's, but I am always looking to try new products... so please fill me in on your findings, I love honest feedback when it comes from the voices of experience, thanks! :)

One word of advice from me to you from experience.

Dont ever buy a gallon of product before testing it out on your vehicle and in your environment. In the same way that I hate chocolate ice cream, you probably love it, the same goes for detailing products. And colors of cars.

For example, Everyone raved about Pinnacle Souveran paste wax. So I bought some on BOGO. Wound up getting 2 full jars. Used it on my bright light colored paint, and it absolutely made it look horrible. Muted the color and made it look very soft and dull from just about every angle. Fortunately the product was bought on BOGO and I didnt pay full price for both containters. At that point I have absolutely ZERO use for this product. But the reality is, Pinnacle Souveran is a SUPER HIGH quality product that is loved by many. But did not work for my situation.

I've used WGDGPS about 2 months on 2 BMW's after a correction. Same owner of the cars and they clean up beautifully all the time every time with no issues.
I can't find one complaint with this sealant.

2 jars for how many cars?

One jar should do 30 cars or more.

From that article:
Car Cleaning Myth #8 - a premium terrycloth microfiber towel is what's recommended

Terrycloth microfiber? It doesn't exist.
It's either terrycloth or microfiber. And it's only Microfiber for us.

Always take these articles with a grain of salt.

I dont like bsxxt products... with that said This product is no good! When i first got it i was happy on how well it went on and off was super easy. With that said i polished with menserna wiped off with ipa and applied WG deep gloss paint sealant... next day no beeding of any sort with rain and full of water spots. LIke if i had'nt done anything psssss what a dissapointment! Just to try something out i went and wiped ipa down again then applied a thin layer of wax with my CYCLO polisher and waited....
Next day water beeding all over the car just some water spots on the car. Lets admit it guys this product in my opinion SUCKS!
Goes on easy and comes off easier, adds a nice gloss n shine to the car that's about it.... It does not do whats expected from a sealant ( Protection ) :nomore:

I've been experimenting with this WG product. I'm primarily a Megs man, but I haven't had any problem with WG. It appears to last a little longer that Meguiars, but that could be my imagination.

Take this for what it's worth, but IMO wax/sealant to me is a sacrificial barrier. It's intended to take the hit instead of your paint. Gloss and color
depth after wax is a fringe benefit.

So your protective barrier is degraded and needs to be re-applied. If your paint is ok, then IMO the wax/sealant served its purpose.

Alright, I suppose I understand. Now, any advice on what I can do now since the water spots are already gouged deep? Start over with the PC 7424? I know I screwed up, but help dude.

Right! This is exactly what I want, something I can spend a good amount of time putting on and then leave alone.
