I recently purchased some Wolfgang products. The swirl remover combo and the deep gloss paint sealant. The weather here in NJ has been horrible lately. Have not had a chance to use these yet on my 2008 Mustang Gt convertible. The high temps now are just breaking the 50 degree mark. Was wondering if temperature will have an effect on the end results? I do not have a garage to work in. Have to do this outside. Thanks for the info. John

John that is good question as I am like in your situation Hear in NJ and would like to hear advises from professionals how to do correct paint outside. I hope we see some answers
thanks

I try an not to do any correcting/waxing/polishing under the mid 40's. To me it is just too cold to do things outside. 50 degree weather will be ok to work in.

Most paint care product will work best between the temperatures of 60 degrees and 80 degrees.

If you want to push the limits then 50 degrees to 90 degrees.

When you start getting colder or warmer than this wipe-off and workability will start to become affected. Drying times will increase for any WODWO products.

Back in 2004 I wrote a pretty comprehensive article on this over on MOL here.

What temperature ranges are best for applying cleaners, polishes, and waxes

:)

Thanks for all of the input. Does not look like this weekend is going to be good here in NJ again. Supposed to start raining tomorrow, then continue right through Sunday! Might have to call in sick when its nice again to get this finished before it gets too cold. I'll post pics when I am finished.

Besides the best temperature for applying product what about product storage? I'm about to purchase quite a bit of product and would hate to store it in my garage over the winter and have it be unusable come springtime. I live in Pa and it gets pretty cold up here....not usually below 0 though.

If the temperatures get to freezing in your garage, try to store your detailing supplies somewhere inside the house.

Thanks for the info. I would have hated to buy a lot of stuff only to have it freeze up on me and be unusable. Looks like I'll be making room in a closet during the cold months. To make it easier I'll just have to pick up a bag on my next purchase. Being a Steelers fan the Black and Gold is a no brainer! :thankyousign:

Well it happened. I forgot this winter to bring my product inside. The complete wolfgang 3 step. The product frozen and separated. If this product trash? Also Menzerna product...Trash????

I wouldn't say there trash at all! If you really think about it what happens to anything you freeze, well just like food it prolongs the life!!:) now if the product is an aerosol or is contained in something metal then that might be another issue but most products these days are encompassed by plastic:) so what I recommend doing is the "freeze and thaw" method and stir it up.
Ps
If you throw it away pm before you do so!

I'll help answer your question with a comparison.

Few weeks back I was working on a clients truck.
The paint was really thrashed so I chose the Meguiar's 105 compound over the Wolfgang Uber Compound.
When I started the temperatures were in the high 50's and had no issues with the 105.
As the day went along it got colder, I noticed the 105 was getting harder to work with, to a point it was time to try something else, when I came into my shop I looked and the temperature was 52 degrees, I picked up my bottle of Wolfgang Uber Compound and went back to the truck, it didn't take long to realize the colder temps didn't effect the workability of the Uber, the lowest the temperature dropped that day was 48 degrees and still no issues with the Uber, none whatsoever.

So to answer your question the Wolfgang products, well the Uber Compound anyway worked fine in the colder temperature.

Was too bad that day being the Meguiar's was cutting much better than the Uber.
The Wolfgang Uber a Compound however is the easiest compounds I've ever used:dblthumb2:
