Wood Paneling?

Just went to a potential customers house who had a 1966 wagon with wood paneling along the sides of it. The paints in good condition, single stage white. Never have worked on these wood paneling though. Any suggestions on what to do with this wood? Feed back please

All depends on what is on the wood!?! If the wood is in great shape and the varnish, lacquer or polyurethane needs some attention (yellowed, cracked etc...) then you will have to sand and reapply or strip, sand and reapply. Wood paneling are not cleared (with automotive clear) so they do not lend themselves to machine/hand polishing as paint would.

1966, double check what it truly is. Real wood on wagons and cars I believe was pretty much gone by the mid 50's. If I had to guess its some sort of plastic. If it is plastic and it looks ok I wold just 303 it to prevent any fade. If it's chalky maybe a light compound at most. I've never personally worked on any plastic woodcars. A good friend of mine has a 48 town and country which is real wood and requires almost constant attention. Keep us to date and maybe some pictures I'm going to be painting a 1988 grand wagoneer this summer and it has the plastic wood sides and will be looking to make them look as nice as the new paint will.

Unfortunately I couldn't get a real good look at this wood type paneling with good light, it was in a garage with real dim light. In addition I was dealing with the housekeeper who didn't have the keys. Im going to be working on their 1967 Mustang first so I have a day to inspect a little more. Will keep you all posted and thanks guys for the responses. :xyxthumbs:
