Recently I have been talking to a couple different body shops about doing details for some of their clients. We haven't discussed any numbers yet and I was wondering what some of you guys do for compensation, percentage wise.

I have had some discussions with a buddy of mine that is opening a shop. He does custom stuff like stereos and the like. He has some detailers too. I told him that I would just give him a quote on a detail and then he can actually decide the charge as long as I get what I have quoted. I'd use all my own supplies and tools and his margin would cover rent and utilities and insurance. Haven't gotten any further with it as I would probably only do it during winter when my unheated garage won't cut it. but it's an idea for you anyway.

I would work on giving him some sort of referral fee based on a percentage of the job. Make sure there's money to be made, first!
