Worst morning in a long time....

Today was one of those days you want a reset button...
As I went out to my car this morning, I see my center console lid flipped up, and I knew this would be bad. I just didn't know how bad. Sometime during the night, someone got into my car (no busted window though), and stole two MP3 players and my detailing bag....with my Griot's 6", all my backing plates, brand new HydroTech pads, some PowerFinsh, some other supplies and a lot of my towels that I hadn't taken out yet. I think the total came to around $700......that's not counting the now lost detail I had for Saturday.

Already called the cops, and they had gotten 4 reports on my side of town. They know what's missing, and I called the local pawn shops to let them know of the high dollars items that were stolen and to contact me if someone comes in with them.

This just blows. Being a college student, that's a real nice chunk of change. Even if you're not a college student, that's still a good chunk of change. It's just a knot in my stomach that'll take some time to work itself out. All I tell myself is that it's all replaceable, nothing was damaged, and no one was hurt. All I really need to replace first is the polisher. Everything else can slowly work its way back. And then there is always the chance the cops find out who did it and can recover the goods. That'd be a happy story, since I got hit last winter, only lost change that time.

I just needed to vent. Off to work, time to get some money.
 
sorry to hear about that, i know the feeling when you are a victim of theft. people who do this should be shot (in the leg) in the act and then beaten to a pulp...

p.s. be glad it wasn't anything inside your house...
 
If you have homeowners or renters insurance, it might cover the stolen items if the car was parked at your residence. Worth looking into.
 
That's just bad. Sorry to hear about that.

Insurance should cover the theft. Anything attached to the car would be covered by your auto policy and homeowners/renters insurance would cover the remaining personal property. Depending on the auto policy, you may have riders that cover personal property.

If any home property was temporarily put in the car and then stolen (from a locked vehicle), it can often be treated as similar to items stolen from within the home.
 
Wow Kyle that really sucks........I really hate that happened to you. Look I have some extra stuff in the shop if you need it.

Pop out a list of what was taken and I'll see what I got and help you out!
 
i know how you feel, we had our enclosed aluminum trailer full of tool stolen in front of our house, 15k trailer and about 8-10k$ worth of tools. the feeling you get is hard to explain. never recovered it, we are pretty close to the mexican border, im sure thats where it went.:(

Hey that's a good tip, will have to remember that. To the OP, sorry to hear about that. I understand how bad it sucks to have your car violated in your driveway.
 
I know sort of how you feel. My home got burglarized on 9/11!!! Someone came through our bathroom window to my parents' bedroom. They took some jewelry and took my dad's old Nikon film camera. Another guy went into another room which set off the motion sensor. I had a big ADT sign outside the house yet they were brave enough to give it a shot. These people should be shot dead, but in California, unless they are actually inside your house, you have no right to shoot them. If you have a firearm in your home, you are by law, not allowed to have it loaded. Basically, the laws in Cali favor the assailant instead of help the victim.
 
I hope it all turns out for the better and that the burglars get caught!
Can't you borrow some material for that detail?
 
Well, this one has a semi happy ending.

As I was at work, I got a phone call from my parents, who said the police recovered a buffer earlier today. I raced off from work and up to the station, where lo and behold,

My detail bag sat! With everything in it!!!
[minus a tub of AGHD wax, but I got two more of them. The towels weren't there either, but those are dime a dozen (and didn't really like them).]

I think the best part was that it was sitting...right down the street. It was on my neighbor's ledge.

One of the other victims also got some justice. He has some football cleats and his hunting bow stolen, and they recovered the bow that morning.
So far nothing on the MP3 players. Those may be long gone, but those are cheaper to replace than a bag of detailing goods!!

The insurance wasn't a help this time. The deductible was more than the contents.

I guess I'll be hitting the lock button twice to make sure I hear the lock honk. And I won't be keeping anything in my vehicle at night. And probably gonna set up a night vision camera system too. I don't see why people do this sort of thing. It's not your property, so why do you feel a need to take it? At least the officer I talked to at the station said he has an idea of who is behind this thievery.

EDIT-Due to my brother's lack of ability to search my room this morning, one of the MP3 players was never missing. So now I'm only out one MP3 player.

WTH kind of car do you have to fit all that in your console? Sorry to hear the bad news but glad to hear the good!!!
