A family member owns a Red 2003 Honda Accord V6 and asked me for some advice.
Paint condition is pretty poor. "Clean is considered going through car washes."
What surprised me the most is that near the trunk there were these light/faded/dull blotches. He purchased it preowned several years ago and as far as we know he has the OEM metallic red pearl paint from Honda.
Would a polish remove this oxidation/faded blotches or is this a clear coat failure?
The car sits outside 24/7 under trees and goes through extreme cold/hot New York weather.
My question to you is if it is worth polishing (removing some of the clear-coat) this car if the owner still continues to poorly maintain the cars paint?
Should I wash, clay, seal, and wax to prevent more damage to the paint?
Thank you for your time and convenience,
Adam
Here is a picture I took from Google which describes how these blotches look like. There's basically three similar blotches with a diameter of 3" near the trunk of the car.
