So as you all know I've been detailing for a long time but buy no means a professional. But of course I do friends cars family etc. So today I was detailing a friend's car and we are getting to the wax application after removal of all defects (got to try out my new flex what a machine but that's a different topic.) So any way I am applying the final coat of wax and my buddy asks if he can help apply the wax, ( I am very OCD when it comes to people helping i have a regiment and I don't like people disrupting my harmony but since it was his car I said what the hell.) I get him a brand new applicator and tell him to go for it. Well to make a long story short I have lifts in my garage so my buddy puts the wax can on top of the lift lip which is directly over the hood of the car. 5 minutes later I hear a thud and bam huge dent on the hood. Well my friend went to grab the tub and accidently pushed the wax off the lip and right on the hood. Last time I let anyone help me. Took me two hours to do the paintless dent repair and for nothing. 2 hours later in rained and instead of letting the wax due it's job my buddy got a wash cloth and started drying the car reintroducing scratches. Waste of time is all I can say.

Don't be so hard on your friend...

This one mistake may turn out to be the one thing necessary for him to want to start learning a worthwhile trade...From a worthwhile mentor.

I am sorry to hear about your day but don't feel bad it was not all your fault you was just trying to be a good friend/lend a helping hand and for that you should be proud of yourself but a little suggestion would be to get a big piece of paper and write out some rules so that everyone can know and see
 
My friend helped me buff sealant off a vehicle, he dropped the MF towel on the floor and kept using it!

I understand the harmony and being in the zone, having help can be very uncomfortable.
 
I cringe when I see people do things improper, that's why I refuse to work with anyone.
 
There are days that are exceptionally good and there are those days in between that, well, could have been better........this was one of those in between days....:doh:
 
Yeah guys it was definitely one of those days. I mean don't get me wrong there better things to get upset about but still I was pretty mad. I am actually going to do the list. That sounds like an amazing idea so everyone can be educated on how to properly maintain your car after a detail...... I won't make a list on how to detail cause then the whole world is going to wanna help. Lol

Man I feel for ya!! I have my friends try to help me detail their cars. I let them know that I am an artist and let the artist do their work. If they insist to help me I let them clean the interior. I hate working on the interior so that will save me a lot of time!!...LOL

Additionally, it will save me from any screw ups they would do outside!

Prophizee I fell for ya!! Sorry to hear that and now at least you have 1 secret weapon without offending them....let them clean the interior!!...LOL

You know I actually have used that as a first line of defense. I normally bust out the metro vac full size and gas there heads up and say this is like the best car vac ever made, and tell them it also has blower and they go "Oooooooo and ahhhhhhhh I want to touch it and I want to try it" kind of like how you do with an infant lol hahahah
