Recently I've been focusing on acquiring more customers. A few weeks ago I met up with the living social rep in my area and worked out a deal. Today it ran on the front page of their website and I currently have 19 people who purchased one of the packages just from their website in the past few hours. It's almost 7pm now and I expect a few more to trickle in before midnight. A few who didn't buy it from their website contacted me today directly and made appointments from just seeing the ad. Ive been getting calls all day....

I've been trying to schedule all these customers around my regular job and it looks like I will be working every day for the rest of december... I'm excited, but I'm also going to be doing a lot of work!!! lol Hey, I asked for it lol

Also, I was afraid that most of the people who purchased the deal on Living social would be people with horrible vehicles looking for a cheap deal. But I guess that's not the case. Most of the customers I have talked to today have been professionals with vehicles in pretty decent shape. I up-sold a few of them already and hoping to up-sale more as I see them.

Ive worked out how much I will have to work to how much I'm getting from living social and it's roughly 10hr. That's 25% of my original price but it helps me get myself more known in the community.

Overall, everything's looking quite good:) I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get busy quick!

Thats awesome dugdug!!! Congrats man...I wish you all the best.

Good luck.

25% of your original price?? No offense, how do you expect to keep customers when they next time they come back you want to charge them 4x as much?

They're aware of the fact that this is a one time deal. That's the whole idea. If they're returning then they know it will be full price. Of course there's always the possibility of a discount to returning customers tho ;)

Also, they're actually paying half the price. I get 25% because I'm getting half of half. The other half goes to living social.

Gotcha. :xyxthumbs:

I think you went the right direction going with Living social. I read an interesting review from someone that tried both groupon and living social and the groupon customers were a nightmare. I'll try to find the article.

Just my opinion, I was contacted by both living social and groupon about having me do a deal in my area. I was thinking though... our clientel are usually pretty well off (why else would they spend so much money to have their cars cleaned by a detailer), plus the people you do get would prolly bring nightmares of cars. Im just throwing that out there, thats how I felt about the whole deal.

From what I understand, the people who use living social make more then the people who use groupon. Also I'm sure it depends on your area. In my area I forget what % exactly but something like 30-40% of the living social subscribers make over 100k a year.

When I talked with the people who bought the package most of them was a professional of some sort. Most of the living social crowd buy things like 10 for 20 at bobs burger. This is a $60-110 purchase so you're attracting the higher end of living socials customer base.

All but 2 of them lived in houses. 1 apartment and 1 duplex. A lot of them were older women who were either professionals or wives of men with decent money looking for a stocking stuffer for their husbands.

I'm impressed with living social. I probly wont be chancing a groupon any time soon. They like my numbers so if I feel I need them again I can do another with them in a few months.

Also, in the comming months I'll be sure to fill you guys in on how many of these customers become returning customers, how many of them refer people ect. I'll do a review thread so you guys can decide for yourselves if doing this is worth it for you.

Good read.

I originally reached out to groupon first. when I didnt hear from them I looked at LS. Right away they contacted me back, set up a meeting with their local rep and we hashed out a deal. Throughout the whole process they kept me informed on what was happening through e-mail or if needed, by phone. My local rep will answer my calls or meet with me to discuss any questions I have.

AFTER I set up my LS deal, groupon finally decided to call me. At that point I had no interest in it and had read too many horror stories to return their call.

Differences are, LS wont charge you those credit card fees. They meet with you in person and answer your calls promplty. They tend to give you a better% (45/55 is what I got) they constantly try to one up groupon. LS will have slightly fewer sales, but their customers tend to make/spend more money.

I'm sticking with LS (if I need them again)

Congrats Dug! More exposure is what you need when you start. Once I figure stuff out, I'm going want to try living social.

ALSO, remember a lot of these guys called me directly when they seen the promo asking for quotes. LS will provide a direct link to your website/phone Every one of those people I made an appointment with. They were already going to buy the deal but wanted some information. When that happens, they come directly to me and LS dosen't get a cut. I made 5 apointments today.... that alone even without anybody buying my package makes it worth it... All I did was sit with a rep and work out a deal.

Exactly... I can't say for sure, but I get the feeling a lot of the people will become return customers so long as a do a great job.

I have customers that say there home carpets are not that bad or lightly soiled when I arrive they are often TRASHED!

Way to drum up the business! Now you need to take there name, address, phone and market to them multiple times per year. Focus on that and you will have a successful business. If you want more info contact me. I have a successful carpet cleaning business I have built up in 8 years starting when I was 21 and dumb

True, I gotta keep that in mind. That's why I try to come to them first to see what's going on before I give them a quote. I can't do that all the time but I try lol
