He was a great player and will be missed...Very Sad!!
 
WOW indeed!! What a shame! He was one of the greats in his time.
 
Few other places are reporting he killed himself....It will be real sad if thats true.
 
Yep, lots of places saying it was a self inflicted gun wound. I have to say suicide is the wusses way out IMO, but obviously he was battling some demons. My thoughts go out to his friends and family that have to pick up the pieces now.
 
In time I'm sure it will come out that he suffered too many concussions and his brain was permanently traumatized. It's a shame.

For all the football fans in the world, brace for major changes to the game over the next 10 years.
 
Sorry to hear this news. He was a good player. I would suspect that his concussions may have played a role in his mental state.

The NFL is being sued left and right for these concussion issues. Future medical research will likely show that smashing into 250+ lbs of muscle will cause long term brain damage.

Look at Mike Webster and many others. The concussions ruined their lives. This is sad news.
 
Saw this last night on the news. Terrible...he did try to attempt to kill himself a few years back. Tried to drive his escalade off a cliff or something. I forget the exact story.

It's a shame.
 
Heard this while listening to the local sports station yesterday, what a shame! He was an awesome player and from the sounds of it, even better in the community, so that makes it even more of a loss, especially in these days of dog killers, dozens of out of wedlock kids, drug busts, domestic abuse, etc. His motor was non-stop on the field, very intense on the field!

God rest his soul......
