Wow

The sad thing is with the amount of time he spent butchering it he could have made good progress just using a foam pad and a DA.

Some wonderful time saver...

Sheesh, reminded me of a 9 year old kid that just found out the "value" of the internet! Banging that cord everywhere....now that's technique!!

I feel molested for the car. :dunno:

Detailing Cardio with the 9227C starring Gordo!

30lbs pressure, one two, one two, up down, up down, right left, right left...

He sure broke a sweat and was out a breath

Should call this the Phil Michaels Method since it's the complete opposite of what Mike Phillips teaches...

The only reason that hood was shiny was because of all that product still on the hood.

I bet he didn't show us what it looked like after the product was removed because the only thing left would have been primer...

Oh, and that spot he went over again? That was the spot that still had paint...

He did accomplish his goal of removing the oxidised paint from the hood...........well, he did !!

I ... uhh ... well...

speechless - no words to describe what I just watched

He shoulda had a warning re: "The following may be too intense; viewer discretion advised."

But, I watched for too long........1st therapy session is this afternoon.

how about the technique used here then?

Where do I begin??

1: I never knew pads were supposed to be color-coordinated with the polish. What do I use for M105? M205? What if I'm using Hydrotech pads?? Now I know why they came out with BlackIce... So this guy could match it to a pad...

2: If you're going to compare polishers, at least use the same friggin pads on them. During that first, um, layer, I'm not sure about the rest, he had a green foam (not sure of the brand) pad on the Flex, but a green Hex Logic pad on the PC. Sure hope green means the same for both manufacturers...

3: How about we give the (arguably) more capable polisher the easier, less screwed up side and leave the other side to the... oh wait, shouldn't it be the other way around? Better yet, shouldn't both sides be as equal as possible?

4: This guy has taken "layering" and given it a whole new meaning...

5a: This guy must have X-ray vision to be able to see the "improvement" through the layers without even removing them...

6: It's called "detail spray", emphasis on "detail"! Oh the irony!!

7: Mike should go show him how to fold a microfiber towel. Then again, Mike might just strangle the guy with it instead...

8: What is he looking at off-camera? Is he watching for his wife because he just knows she's going to divorce him for screwing up her Tahoe??

Seriously after watching such videos, I wonder how Mike Phillips reacts. Perhaps with a huge facepalm. These videos are more like trolls, pretending to be gurus on the internet.

He ignores basics like start out with the least aggressive combination and slowly move higher on the aggressive scale. He is wasting a lot of clear coat that way and will soon have to send for repaint if he goes on with the same method for every minor swirl.

And that layering he did there, what on earth was he trying to achieve?? Its like gnawing away at the paint surface.
About the towel, ive seen countless guys using them without folding. And still claiming to achieve a show car shine. And this can be seen in many company demo videos.

Being a newbie I have atleast educated myself on the basics before even thinking of machine Polishing the paint. Somebody should gift him the Complete guide to a show car shine. :nomore:

I don't really like talking bad about people.

So all I will say "He moves fast" reminds me of the speed I was capable of producing.

My 1.5 hour detail would probably take you guys about 45 mins. Lol

I should probably clarify that I'm almost never necessarily trying to be mean in any of my comments. I'm more trying to be funny than anything else, though others may not really see it that way...

This is one of those, "Hold my beer and watch this..." moments.

I'm not sure what this guy is trying to achieve here, other than showing every polish Adams sells and selling more Flex polishers. What's the point of polishing anything if you don't stop after each polish, inspect your work, and proceed accordingly?

Either machine is fine in capable hands, but he is just doing a random amount of polishing and stepping down to the next polish, like he has to follow some flow chart or something. Then if that's not bad enough, all the more aggressive abrasives (spent or not) from the previous polish are still left on the paint to commingle with the next polish.

How can you achieve all the refinement of "Fine Machine Polish", when you are still polishing with remnants of your initial most aggressive polish????

Then at the end he plants the idea the the Flex ($$$) removes more swirls / scratches than a PC. In reality, a PC could have done just as good or better job if he inspected his work and proceeded accordingly.

It's kind of like that analogy Junkman makes about "different ways to Shineville....through the city / suburbs", etc... Either machine could have got that paint to the same place, but you have to put a little thought into it and not just match the colors of the pad and the polish.

3: How about we give the (arguably) more capable polisher the easier, less screwed up side and leave the other side to the... oh wait, shouldn't it be the other way around? Better yet, shouldn't both sides be as equal as possible?

Not if your goal is to sell a bunch more of more expensive "our Flex" polishers.
