Hey everyone. Got another BRZ to work on today. This one is my personal favorite color, World Rally Blue. It was booked for a New car Prep, one step correction, Opti Guard, and to have the rear emblems removed.

As usual I startedby cleaning the wheels, tires, and wheel wells. Wheels were cleaned with Iron X while the tires and wells were cleaned with Optimum Power Clean. The wheels were OG'd and the tires and wells were dressed with HGyper Dressing.

Next the exterior was foamed with Meguiars Hyperwash and some APC. While it dwelled I used a RG brush to agitate the emblems, body seams, and trim.

Next the vehicle was washed with Hyperwash, clayed with Ricardo Clay, then Iron X was applied to remove any left over iron particles. It was then dried with the Masterblaster. Before I started on the correction I wanted to get the emblems removed. Floss was used to remove the emblems themselves, and the left over adhesive was removed, then the paint was buffed along with the rest of the vehicle.

Now that they paint was stripped we could see the actual condition. Honestly, it was better than most, even for a new car. The swirls were very fine, and the tons of flake in the paint hid what swirls were there very well. Here are a couple pictures that I was able to capture. Again, the swirls were not bad at all.

I knew this paint would not need to be compounded, so after some testing I settled with Menzerna Powerfinish on a Tangerine HT pad with the Meguiars G110. Here is how the paint turned out.

To prep the paint for Opti guard I rewashed the vehicle with Optimum Power clean, and then blew it dry with the Masterblaster. I then applied Opti guard panel by panel, and then to the trim and wheels. Here is how it turned out.

Finally the glass was cleaned with Meguiars Glass Cleaner, the exhaust tips polished with Collinite Metal Wax, and the engine bay was dressed with Sonus Trim and Motor Kote.

Like I mentioned before, this is one of my all time favorite colors, so I had a great time working on this vehicle. I, and the customer, were very happy with how it all turned out. Thanks for taking the time to read my thread, and I look forward to your feedback!

Very beautiful car! Looks like you did a good job. I'm with you on the color; absolutely beautiful. On of the employees at the local Subaru dealership has a white one with dark tint... It looks sooo slick.

Thanks man! I'm really diggin' these new vehicles.

Love the write up. The car turned out great. Never thought to use floss to remove the emblems. Great tip.

Yea, I never of using floss, that's a great idea. Nice work and beautiful car.

Great work on the car, I did one last weekend too and made a post for it in the show and shine, you did exactly what I did but I didn't post the pics of it with the rear plate off but we did remove the front plate though. I too used dental floss for the badge removal but forgot my GooGone so I used......get this, a combo of alien clean and a pink eraser along with some good old fashioned elbow grease using one of multi use mf's! There was dulling from doing this but it rubbed out with 3x's application of DG #101, no problem. I couldn't agree more about the color, its stunning and it really POPS on this car inparticular!

if you want the best protection, coat them with OC 2.0...cleaning will be a snap...dont waste your time and money on other products...you just wont get teh same reuslts youre after.

So I have to ask, what is the deal with removing the emblems?

hehe...its called de-badging...all the kids are doing it now....like when guys started getting earrings and growing pony tails! :poke:

Thanks for your advice! I will be thinking on it next time I order from AG!
