well its not as bad as you think. Exotic car insurance is different. I worked for a VW dealership and someone had a fully loaded phateon and they go for like 130k, clipped a guard rail and it was tottaled. The insurance company paid for the new car. Im told with exotic car insurance, you pay the premium because you get that premium service... Not to mention its really hard to get exotic car insurance.

When I first purchased a Viper I had AIG insurance and they would not insure it. I switched all my cars to Progressive. Then I purchased and Lamborghini and Progressive would not insure that. Now I switched are my cars to Allstate. I don't know how great they are when you need them but they have no problems taking your money every 6 months.

Being 2 of the largest insurance companies out there, their coverage and reputation is the worst when it somes to handling a claim. A few years ago alot of body shops posted signs at their front door saying that they don't accept Allstate claims. They're usually the cheapest, but you won't get great service if you have a problem.

Gary - I wonder why Progressive wouldn't insure you? Progressive actually has a specialty/exotic claims department that only handles these types of vehicles. I know the adjuster that handles these claims and I call him for advice when I run across an Italian Exotics in S. Florida.

I love Progressive. I've been with them for over 10 years now. Their claims are so fast. They cut a check to me on sight when they are done evaluating it. Everytime I've ended up with money in my pocket.

Never had to even consider exotic care insurance. The most exotic thing I've had was my Prowler.......and this girl I met in Cancun!

KIDDING!!!

Progessive told me they would only insure cars valued up to $150,000 and could not insure my Lambo. If you know if progressive just recently changed their policy, please let me know.

My wife (Women Driver) recently backed into someone at church (a parked car) of all places with our van. I had no problem with the way Allstate handled the claim but then again it wasn't an exotic car. They recomended a local Cadilac dealer to do the repairs and they did a very good job. Both Allstate and the Caddy dealer guaranteed their work. After I paid my high deductable they really did not have to pay to much.

You nailed it Gary, they love taking your money but when it's time for them to dish some out they make you go round and round with forms and process. Can't wait to start looking for exotic insurance

I would be interested to hear the feed back on the insurance too as I have been phoning around.

State Farm or Farmers will probably insure just about anything (maybe even one of those million dollar Bugattis). But their rates are kinda high.

My wife just got a quote from State Farm on our cars a few weeks ago and they were quite a bid higher then Allstate. With 6 cars the insurance on any one car is not too bad but you add them all up and it gets expensive. The insurance on the Lamborghini is $605 for 6 months.

Gary - My friend @ Progressive wasn't sure if there has been any recent changes to their underwriting on exotics, but he's looks at cars that are $200,000 + all the time (Bentley, Rolls, Lambos and Ferrari's). He's going to look into it and let me know. Have you ever tried Chubb? High end vehicles are what they mostly write policies on. They might not be the cheapest, but I know their claims handeling is 2nd to none. They'll give you anything you ask for when you make a claim and customer service is their forte. If a body shop suggests something for the repair of a Chubb vehicle, the adjuster will not question it and hand it over on a silver platter.

David, Thanks very much for checking with your friend at progressive. I was happy with progressive and only left when they told me they would not insure my Lamborghini. I am familer with Chubb. I use to be Comptoller for one of the largest Mechanical Contractors in the country out of Detroit before moving to Florida. Chubb was our bonding company.

He probably does not care he is probably like i can buy 6 more money is no object
