Last time I polished my truck there were some water spots and swirls that I couldnt get off with two passes with OC and the green edge pad on my PC would XMT 4 be a better choice?

i would like to hear the answer to this too.

I've used both, but only used OC in temps below 45, and only used XMT 4 in the sun at 70*'s. Not really sure which has more bite, for I havent done a side by side comparison, BUT I do find that XMT 4 leaves a easier finish to work with. It leaves a little hazing with me, but nothing a finishing pad and XMT1/2 can't handle. (Also, I find I don't need to 100% work XMT1 in the paint to remove the hazing from XMT4).

However, with OC and a yellow pad, this combo leaves a lot of micromarring and minor surface defects caused from either the pad or OC. Sometimes it's difficult to remove with XMT 2, much alone XMT1. (I've yet to follow OC with OP, I have a feeling it might be easier since the polishes probably work best together.)

Betcha not that many have tried #4 yet Frank. It's on my next list. Today I used XMT#3; last Thursday I used OC. Those two seem really close in cut with XMT#3 finishing down better. Just a guess but XMT#4 should have more cut than OC (maybe more like OHC).

Yeah I felt like XMT 3 and OC were pretty close so I can imagine that XMT 4 has more "cut" but I was hoping someone has tried em both.

#4 is even more aggressive than OHC, and the most aggressive polish/compound AG sells; so let that tell you something.

OC is more than enough powerful to cut through water spots and oxidation. I have had real good luck with OC and sometimes OC/#83.

Second, up the pad to the YELLOW pad, speed 6, and work it in a little longer. And try to add a little more pressure..

Here's some pictures of SEVERE oxidation I got to work with.. there's sooo much oxidation it was hard to take before pictures because you couldn't see the blue/green paint at all.

AND the pad.. this WAS a Yellow Edge pad.. came 98% clean..

I def. got of tons of oxidation, not as much as on that hood but pretty close with this combo. However There were still some scratches that I couldnt get with the PC and I couldnt feel with my fingernail so I think I can get em. Maybe Ill try this weekend and up the pad to the Yellow and see what I can do.

Do you have XMT 3? If so, add one pea sized drop on the pad, with 2 pea sized drops of OC on a yellow pad. You use #3 for the extra working time to remove the scratch/swirl.

I like the OC have not worked with XMT 4 yet though

yeah I do have the XMT 3 so your saying two drops of OC and one of XMT 3 will help clean it up?

Well by using #3, you're adding some oils that #3 has, and thus making your working time longer. With a longer working time, you can really get to the bottom of swirls you're after.

I actually break out Meg's #3 for this purpose... the product is all oils, and allows for even longer working times.
