XMT Promblems... Help!

I just recieved my XMT 3 and 1. I have a moderatly swirled red jeep wrangler. I went over it with XMT 3 and a orange CCS pad at speed 5-6. Then followed it up with XMT 1 on a gray CCS pad at about same speed. I also used the pad conditioner. It seems like the swirls barely went away.... Am i doing something wrong? Please help.
 
Did you work for at least 5 minutes in 2X2 sections at like 1" increments of movment and overlapping?
 
Swirl removing takes patience and sometimes many passes.

I would repeat with the orange pad/ XMT#3/speed 5, using moderate pressure, going slowly with 3-4 passes and see if you are getting anywhere....then repeat this again. Other products (like OC) may do a better job on "moderate" swirls.....but since you've got the XMT#3, I'd stay with that for now.
 
Yup I've done the right speed, time, 2x2 sections....still some swirling. It's gotten a little better but it's still noticible. Any other suggestions? Different products maybe?
 
Yeah, sounds like you arent working the polish in long enough. Set a timer for 5 minutes, also, make sure the pad is actually spinning, just use the weight of the machine.
 
To reduce or remove swirls, I alternate light with moderate pressure on the PC. I go easy to start, then increase pressure on the PC to where it might even start to bog down, then ease up, work with only light pressure and then increase pressure again. On my final pass or two, I use light pressure only. I also will use a 4" pad to concentrate on particular areas.

I try to avoid a yellow pad and would step up to a more abrasive product before I'd go yellow, but that's just me.

As far as other products that would be alittle more aggressive, I like Optimum Compound and then there is XMT#4 and a host of others.
 
Your biggest concern should be moving at a slow rate on a fast speed for 6-7 minutes per 2x2 ft. area. The polishes need heat to properly break down and fast movements will do more harm than good.
 
Ok. I tried the yellow pad and even used a timer. Same problem. Swirls are still there? I washed it, claybar first. Is the xmt series just not as strong as the PB? I've used PB before with great results. And I'm not too impressed with XMT yet...
 
If you've used the PB line with great results, why not try that and see if it works better?? I've found XMT#3 to be about like SSR2.5.

Can you use a 4" orange pad and concentrate on even a smaller area, going slow with alternating pressure and see if that helps?

Just throwing this out there, but is it that the original swirls that are still there or micro-marring from the yellow pad?
 
No its the original swirls not micro marring from the yellow pad. I think I'm gonna try to tackle it with the PB line in a minute. Thanks for the quick feedback. I'll let you know what the results are. Thanks
 
sounds exactly like my lancer... i think its in the paint...word of caution watch out when using hte yellow pad i made a small burn today. ;/

It can take many passes to get it perfect with PC, sometimes its just the rotary and heavy cutting that helps. Removed some scratches from a BMW with a PC, went over the same area 3-4 times before it was 95%.
