The BMW dealer called me at lunch and said that beautiful black 745i Sport has some bad scratches on the hood and trunk! Oh boy...what to do. I went over at lunch and sure enough, there were numerous scratches apparently caused by grit of some sort in one of the microfibers I used last night. To make matters worse, the dealer had a prospective owner coming to see the car...panic!
Okay, we stalled the prospect and I came back late this afternoon to see what the repair would be. The dealer wanted to re-wool/compound the hood and trunk or wet sand/compound. Not only a dusty mess, but time consuming.
Well, says I, ... I have this new Pinnacle XMT 360, so let's try that first. I used it with a Meguiar's #8006 pad on the Metabo rotary and started at 800 rpm. Didn't see any results and was getting disappointed, so I spun the rotary to 1,500 rpm. Voila! They were disappearing. It took some time, but the scratches were flat out of there.
Then, I figured this black beast of a Bimmer deserved some Souveran paste, so I graced the car with it...and here's the result.
XMT360 on the trunk lid
XMT 360 and Souveran on the hood inside the shop with no flash!
Pure blackness!
Some finished outside shots...I won't get tired of looking at this ride!
