Xyilon/Simonize equil

A friend of my wife's has a Cadillac and a Mercedes and her dad has the same...I work at a Mercedes/Volvo dealership in the Parts Dept and they figured I have access to the sealant the dealers use; we use Xyilon. I really don't think the Xyilon or Simonize is any different then any other sealant, the product itself.
What do you all recommend for a good sealant, these people aren't car enthusiasts and they use car washes too ;(

I was thinking Reload, Netshield or Powerlock. I use Collinte for winter, but they really want the XYILON type stuff.
 
Go onto Amazon and type in "Xzilon" (correct spelling), and found the reviews were 33 bad to 19 good.
 
This dealership stuff is a big scam. If they want some good protection and a great look, check out optimum opti-gloss or car pro cquartz UK. These are both consumer available products that present easy installation. Otherwise if you are looking for quick protection, menzerna power lock or sonax net shield work great!
 
I have a close relationship with the Mercedes Benz corporate dealership in my area, as my next door neighbor is the service department foreman (for all intents and purposes, the hands-on service manager) and I bought my 2006 smart convertible there. The Mercedes Benz-branded detailing supplies you can buy at their parts counter are all made by Meguiars and 1Z (at roughly double the price you'd pay at AG).
 
In the shop? I think every private dealership has whatever they prefer. I found out the MB-branded convertible care kit is just Ragg Topp.

Thats funny! And yea that would make sense for private owned facilities!
 
I can ask today if the corporate (MB O/O) dealerships (they only sell vehicles from MB, Mercedes-AMG, smart and Sprinter, no other brands) are required to use a specific brand in the shop. I'd be surprised if it didn't come down to cost, though, and they didn't use a bevy of 3M products.
 
I have worked at a lot of dealerships managing an auto groups visual merchandising and I can say that they have never applied any sort of paint protectant to a new car but they do put it on the add on sticker to raise the price. I'm pretty sure it is just a huge scam because who really knows except for detailers. Also car lot use power wash companies to come by and spray down the cars and then dry them all with the same chamois. Talk about adding on swirls.
 
Right, but most dealerships have a detailing guy to turn around keepers -- lease returns and better trades that don't get flipped to wholesalers or the auction. My MB store has a huge pre-owned showroom and the cars are immaculate. They also store (and very occasionally display) Canadian Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau's beautifully-restored 1957 300SL (that he inherited from his dad, former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau)...

Mercedes does have their own line of car care products, I believe they may be made by Meguiars as well...but that's not what the service dept detail guys use, they use Auto Magic. I have seen them apply the Xzilon and I could apply it as good half asleep dozing off! If there was ever a claim, I bet there's a way to check to make sure the product is present and applied correctly.

The factory uses Menzerna, especially in the spot repair assembly line qulaity control.
 
Just got a reply via iMessage... Yep, the retail products are mostly OEMd by Meguiars. However there is no corporate directive in the shop. The the detailers at this dealership are good, a lot of top-end and classic Mercs go through it. They use CarBrite polishes on wool pads with a variety of rotaries.
