Years of Neglect and Bad Oxidation....

What should i use to remove it? i can get a pic tomorrow when i get home, but it is an '89 Mazda MX-6 and i am not sure if it has ever been waxed. I tried using some XMT 3 today with lake country Orange and Yellow pads as well as a wool pad and it helped, but did't help enough, even going over it like 3-4 times wan't enough. i ended up giving up because i was more or less just wasting time/product. The product was caking up big time in my pads (i used the Pinnacle pad prep stuff)

We know the paint won't look perfect, we just want to remove the dirt that is embedded in the dirt (1/2 the problem) and then the severe oxidation (big white patches)

I will be using my 7424
 
Is this your car? I have an idea, but it is super risky and I wouldn't even think about posting it to the forum, so shoot me a PM if your interested. Other than that, I would try clay first.
 
yes my car (technically my wifes, but.....)

I forgot the clay so we went straight to the XMT3, i was thinking clay would probably help a lot and i will be trying clay for sure next time (gonna try again in a few more weeks when i can get another weekend off, students are practicaly breaking down my door to go flying lately so i don't have much time)

post it here, or PM me, i don't mind either way
 
here are the pics of what i am trying to fix, i still need to try clay on it

first pic: 2 passes of XMT3 w/ orange LC pad on right side.
the rest of the pics are after 3 or 4 passes of same as first, but no luck on making the white spots dissappear. the reflections were not there before the XMT though

Ouch, that looks bad.

Looks like a Rotary/wool pad job imo, but dont know if even that would rescue that paint.
 
i tried the PC w/ Woolpad and it didn't help, it might have worked better if it didnt' cake up so bad
 
not just oxidation but CC failure...probably the best its going to look unfortunately
 
That looks more like a clear coat failure than an oxidation problem. What colour are your pads after doing a pass of XMT 3?
 
Yea I agree with sneek and orngez...lookslike clear coat failure...you actually removed the oxidation you can tell from the pictures but what you got there is clear coat...I agree too check your pads if they are the color of the vehicle your into the paint.

Somethings you just wont be able to fix, hard to accept but that's something I've learned :(
 
that is fine if we can't fix it.

the pads were turning blue on the top of the car, but the rest of the car they just were dirty from the embedded dirt.

i figured it was single stage paint as it is an '89
 
It does look like CC failure, but you might want to find a forum to ask if it's a CC or SS paint. If it turns out to be SS, you could always take a shot at wet sanding.
