Does anyone here who uses yelp to search for businesses pay attention to the check in? A few places I eat off offer free food if you check in so I always do it. But I just thought about it, and I've never noticed who checks in and how many when I'm looking at reviews on there. I figure it can't hurt offer some deals for people who check in when I detail their cars. But I'm curious who here pays attention to it.

I look for reviews on any service based company, contractors, plumbers, etc before I use them.

Yelp has effected my decisions on who I spend my money with.

I also leave reviews both good and bad. I've left more good reviews than bad!

I agree, it couldn't hurt. The Internet is powerful...

At our shop we have not bought the subscription to Yelp we find it a waist of money. However we have clients telling us they found us on several sites with great reviews none of these sites we pay money to its just clients putting up a good review for us.

I used to love yelp until i started a business and found out how shady they are. The day a class action law suit is filed against them ill be first in line...

There have already been lots of lawsuits against yelp. Shady doesn't seem strong enough of a word.

That said I still use their site but now you have to read between the lines.

I use yelp a lot for all kinds of places... services/food/attractions/etc. Be sure to read the "Not Recommended" reviews, as a lot of the bad ones end up being there.

Most of the good legit ones end up there too for people who dont pay their advertising... Ask me how i know...
