ive tried turtlewax, mothers, meguires, and 3m. i was told basf and dupont have a kit too but im guessing if i tried most of them, chances are they'll probably be the same. my results were good for the first couple months, then down the road they would go back to being hazy again. HOWEVER, i heard toothpaste works. has anyone tried toothpaste for headlight restoration or seen good results?

If your removing the defects to your satisfaction initially, the problem lies in the fact that you have removed the protective UV coating from the top layer of plastic and they are oxidizing again. You need to protect them once you correct them. You could use any wax or sealant with UV protection, but it will just require frequent application and they should stay clear. Coatings are another possibility and some use urethane. Toothpaste is probably best left for brushing teeth.

see, thats the thing. all the kits i purchased all came with either a premoistened fabric soaked in sealer or a spray sealer. maybe regular car wax? as for the toothpaste i'm not even going to bother.

Keep in mind before you apply any protection to the plastic all traces of polish need to be removed with alcohol, Eraser, or a similar product - or, the life of the protection will be diminished. I polished my headlight a year or so ago and they are still clear. I put OptiCoat on them after.

i will think that over. im just trying stuff out so i dont damage any client's cars. thought id ask first. thx for the input!
