So I had a co-worker tell me a story recently about waxing his truck, his words in quotes:

"I know you're into all that car cleaning so I thought I would wax my truck to make you proud."

He has my attention at this point, naturally. It's a little older regular cab Ford Ranger, maybe mid 90's.

"yeah, I washed it and bought a can of Turtle Wax and decided to go for it."

I expected that part but not the following...

"I applied the whole can to my truck, let it dry while I went to pick up my son from school, but had to run a couple errands. When I came back I tried to remove it but it was like concrete so I drove to my buddy's house and asked if I could borrow his buffer. I told him why and he said that I better try some other way to remove the wax because I might damage the paint. So I drove back to my house and washed my truck 3 times while trying to get that junk off my truck. I don't see how you enjoy this."

All I could say was - you did what? He started laughing and said surely there's an easier way. So I had to ask - did you read the directions? I'm pretty sure it says one section at a time, allow to haze, then remove.

"no, I didn't look. I thought you had to use the whole can."

100% true. The best part is my wife still laughs about it!

does he use a whole bottle of shampoo to wash his hair too?

Haha that's why people need us! I always read the directions :)

Hey, just imagine if he left that whole can of hard wax shell on there for the next year. No bonded contaminants! (other than said wax shell.) :D Imagine the protection, taking a long road trip, a couple mils of t-wax between the bugs and stones and your precious clear coat. Hahaha!

:bolt: He used the entire can???? How thick dod he have to put that stuff on????

Oh well. He can do a lot of :detailer:

^ this... As if running errands while it cured wasn't bad enough...Who uses the entire can?

welll, he musta made ya proud that theres still a LOT of folks that dont have a clue and need you! thats just too funny.woulda been cool to see the people when he drove to his friends' house. wonder what the finish looks like now after 3 washes, prolly with massive pressure and a scotch brite!

Well on the plus side the car is certainly protected against the elements now.
