You sure you can use DG #501 on automotive finishes?

I did not use definitive answers because I have had factory reps say one thing to me and something different to somebody else. At any rate allowing a little extra cure time can't hurt. Better safe than sorry.

Same goes for me buddy! I read one thing and have been told another multiple times. So I just like to recommend calling the manufacturer and let people make their own decision. And I didn't mean any harm by my statement. :xyxthumbs:
 
I love 501.

It's my go-to Sealant simply because of it's durability.

I am going to try 501 topped with AG HD soon.

I planned on topping it immediately with HD, should I let it cure prior to?
 
Great products, but really annoying not to be able get straight answer from manufacturer.

I contacted DG via email and they ensured me #501 is safe for automotive finishes.
 
Early in the thread I was under the assumption DG #501 did not contain abrasives, I stand corrected. I had a long conversation with Duragloss and it does contain abrasives. :xyxthumbs:

I see this old thread got revived and I wanted to make sure there was no confusion. There is no cure time with 601, especially if you mix it.
If you do not, you apply 601 all around the car. Wait for it to haze (10 minutes or so, do the swipe test to ensure). Apply 501/105/101 or whatever directly into the 601 haze. In other words, you are not buffing it off prior to the next product...you are mixing them!
If you mix, do a 4:1 ratio of 501, etc at 4 parts and 601 at one part. Apply around whole car, let haze. Do swipe test, when dry, remove. That's it.

You can now immediately top that with another layer of DG, Collinite or whatever.

Suggested pads for the mix? I presume you can also go 105 & 601 mixed too?

If using a DA, a finishing pad will do fine with 105, if you're gonna use 501, take it up to a white LCC pad or something with a bit of bite that will still finish off well.

ok thanks. I would presume a 4 or so with the white pad and maybe 3 with the finishing pad?

Yes, but by all means, don't be afraid to experiment with it. Every machine, pad, paint..it's all different so try different things till you find what knocks it out of the park with your particular case...and then share what worked for you.
