My wife's dirty car is really bugging my OCD towards clean cars. She keeps saying she is gunna wash it but it's not happening.

Anyway, it's a newer white Jeep Cherokee. It's gunna need some elbow grease to get all the bugs and crap off it but I'm up for it. Normally I would use CG Citrus wash but I don't think that actually works that well on very dirty cars.

So what do you guys use for soap when someone brings in a newer car that needs a good washing? I will be using two different buckets for this one than I use on my car 😉

Once it's clean, I'll seal it with BFWD or Poorboys so it stays that way for awhile.
 
My favorite wash soap is Duragloss 901. A good soap for any wash.
 
Citrus Wash is amazing at 1oz per gallon. If you must 2 bucket and want another recommendation, CarPro Iron X soap would be mine.
 
just use a stronger dilution ratio of what you have for the initial wash. you can always add some apc to the wash as well, just make sure to rinse thoroughly and prep the paint properly before applying your lsp...
 
I've never had any issues with CWG and cleaning power. If you still need something stronger, just add some APC as has been mentioned above
 
IronX snow soap will strip lsp at higher dilution ratios and work on embedded iron particles too.

Thanks guys. Ill try using some more. I just assumed it wasn't really as strong as it says. I have their APC as well so maybe mix in a little of that. Since I'm placing an order, I'll look into the ironx as well. Thanks

I've heard that soap is pretty good.

If you want to go a little more aggressive at it...When you get to the bad areas, bottom half of the doors, front end, the back end, you could spray the area with your APC as you go. A bug sponge would help too, if you have one. Then clay what is left.

Do not pretreat those areas before the wash and let it dwell or it could dry and etch the paint. Also on painted plastics like bumpers and rocker covers, use a lighter dilution and spray the bottom and work up. Spraying APC and letting it run down dry paint under it will give you visable "run stains". More so on white painted plastics.

These "run stains"(I'm not sure what the proper term is) are probably etching, and are actually the reverse of a stain. You'll have a super white, or clean, runs on the paint surrounded by the embedded dirt that it did not touch as it ran down.
 
Interesting.

I love all CG's soaps. I use Mr pink on my mustang anytime I wash it due to its gentle natural. I like v7 hybrid shampoo for daily after waxing it. Glassworks is good but with the v7 one I don't really use it. snow foam smells awesome but Mr pink is my goto for maintanience washes.

Just add and ounce of APC (Meguires) with your favorite shampoo and mix well.
 
In that type of case I would go to my Chemical Guys Cirtus wash Red. But if the bugs are that bad I would spray some Poor Boys Bug Squash on them first.
 
3oz of Chemical Guys Cirtus wash Red and 1oz of CG Strong Wash with 3-3.5 gallons of water is what I use for prep washing. It has always served me well.
 
Thanks for sharing your dilutions guys. I typically start by rinsing off the car, then use a foam gun(not the cannon) to let the suds presoak a bit. In this case, would you follow the same dilution for the foam gun as your buckets?

CG has a new stripping soap called clean slate. It's only purpose is to strip the surface of any wax or sealant. Won't hurt coatings.
 
CG citrus wash is my favorite CG product. I save the soap when I'm done and use it to clean my pads.
 
On my gti, I have a coat of BFWD from about a three weeks ago. For maintanience washing, I was using Mr. Pink so as to not strip the sealant. Since you guys are very pro CG shampoos, what would you recommend for my GTI that would be a little more powerful than Mr pink but won't strip the sealant? I have all the CG shampoos in my collection to choose from

Just wanted to thank you guys for the suggestion of adding APC. I did my daily GTI last night and while the car wasn't bad, the wheels were terrible. I've been dreading doing them because they have a lot of crevices and such. I used a stronger dilution of CG APC with shampoo in a spray bottle and pre soaked them. After sitting for a few, I rinsed off. At first it looked like it did do much. But when I grabbed some wheel towels, the dirty and grim came off effortlessly. They look brand new.

Quick update: finally got around to giving a go at the wife's Jeep last night. I'm gunna call this the first stage of getting it back to clean. Car was filthy, 60k on it with all highway trips. I rinsed off the car then used my foam gun with a mixture of CG Citrus Wash, Snow foam and CG APC. Let it sit. Rinsed off. Then did a 2BM with citrus wash in the bucket. Rinsed. It was about to rain so that was it for a first go.

Car looks whiter than she recalls. I did this first wash to a good idea of how bad it is. Car still has a lot of tar but got most of the bugs off. I also noticed she has a ton of organish spots on the lower parts of the white paint. I've ever had a white car or any really light car. Is this iron? I'll grab some pics.

Here is a shot of the first clean up.
