What is your favorite pad to apply using a DA polisher?
1. sealants with
2. Liquid Waxes
3. Paste wax

Right now I have used black hex logic pads, black hybrid pads, and some black harbor freight pads for #1 and #2 and rarely 3

I prefer the black hybrid so far as ot seems easier to clean and more durable.
The hex logic I feel requires a bit more product due to the recesses.

Thanks for your input!

I usually use the red Buff & Shine, or red Hex Logic. I haven't experienced the need to use more product with the hex faced pads, but I bought the flat B&S pad because I felt it would perform "better".

Since I mainly use the 3401, Hybrids are my choice in pad no matter what I am using them for.

For a standard DA machine I prefer the hydro techs. The crimson pad is great for final finishing and applying an LSP.

Black ccs, I've used to apply wax and sealants easy on and off

Buff & Shine red pad for all three--soft with very dense pores keeps the product on the surface of the pad.

I have only been machine polishing for a year but for these tasks I have really come to like the Rupes and cg white pads. They seem to distribute the product well and are able to conform to contours easily.

I have the white Rupes pad ready to go for sealant, and cleaner waxes.

I am sold solid on Buff N Shine Flat pads. They are tough as nails compared to anything Fake Cou...Er Lake Country has out. They also come in multi packs that carry a lot of savings when buying the multiples that you need. They have also just come out with a new line of MF cutting and polishing pads that also come in the multi pack variety. If these pads can stand up to compounding and polishing my 30 Sea Ray without shredding, then they have my vote.

Buff and Shine orange, last forever good cut for compound and gives light polishes a little more cut.

Soooo, I read somewhere that people love the CCS orange/white, so I bought a bunch. Is this true? lol

I like the hydrotech pads 5.5 inch. Just 3 different pads to work with, very easy. They don't soak up product like some other pads. Less saturation and more product stays on the pad so you know what you are working with. The pads are not thick so work very well with a simple da like my GG6 and with less saturation the pads do not get heavy. So with these two features, there is no bogging down.

I just did my Dodge durango a week ago. The paint was in good condition. I just used the crimson pad (red) with WG finishing glaze with about 25 lbs of pressure to do some very light cutting and and then eased up on the pressure and kept on going polishing with the same pad. Other pads you may have to use two different pads to do the same task. Then turned around and used a new clean same crimson pad to apply the WGDGPS with no pressure. Spread was easy and no real saturation. I used a gray ccs pad to compare and the ccs pad held more product because of the pockets, so you can do a very large section when spreading a sealant like Wolfgangs, but personally I did not like how that worked out, it seemed too much. I like how the hydrotech pads gives me more of a control feeling. Then you can turn around and use the same crimson type pad to apply wax (no pressure) also. I have a red ccs pad that I am going to compare against the hydrotech crimson pad to apply fuzion wax.

So you can see why I like the hydrotech pads. With one type of pad (crimson) I was able to do some light cutting and polishing under the same process with one pad, turn around and apply a sealant and wax. A lot less hassle for me to use than to decide what 3-4 different pads to use.

I mainly use the 3401 a well. You should try the B&S low pro(they're not really low pro) 5.5" pads with the 3401. :xyxthumbs:

As for a compound and polish job, I normally polish/finish with a standard DA and the crimson pad is my favorite finishing pad.
