Your most trusted LSP

Collinte 476 or 1Z hart Glanz topped with either Pete's 53 or Max Wax.

I waxed my Volvo when I bought it in July with 1Z and topped with pete's 53 and it still beads to this day.

optimum car wax is all I use! as the old saying goes find something you like and use it. a little goes a long way, easy to work with, and durablity is right up there where it should be. thanks FUNX725 for the spec's on optimum car wax

From Optimum’s web-site (my high-lighting):

-"Optimum Car Wax is the only spray car wax that provides the durability of a paste wax and long-lasting UV protection.
A combination of high-grade Carnauba wax, sealant polymers and UV inhibitors that forms a protective layer on the
painted surface to protect the paint from sun damage and environmental elements for up to 5 months.

-UV inhibitors help keep the color from fading and are present in the clear coat finish.
These become deactivated or consumed over time. The UV inhibitors in Optimum Car Wax
augment these and help protect the paint from fading.

-Since Optimum Car Wax has no abrasives, it will not cause damage to moldings or trims.
In fact applying Optimum Car Wax on these surfaces will protect them as well.

-You can use Optimum Car Wax in a garage or other enclosed areas
since it contains no chemical solvents whatsoever".

If you, supernaut, have read the above...
What say you now about OCW's status as a:
Carnuba or Sealant?

Thanks.

:)

Bob

I'd say I will try it as a standalone LSP. I am currently using it as a top up on my car sealed with DG 105. In fact, I just cleaned both my laptops, iPad and phones and coated them with OCW. I am loving this stuff.

Thank you for all your information and help. It indeed seems to be a hybrid and one of the best out there.
I even wonder with OCW, will I ever need to try Opti Seal or Poli Seal? Time alone will tell but for now OCW seems to be my holy grail.

Like many of the Geeks here, I have a shelf full of LSP's, I think 18 or 19 at last count. Some of them keep migrating to the front of the shelf, since they're grabbed most often, namely 845 for protection, Optimum Wax for ease of use and DG 501 for cleaning ability. If I were reluctantly forced to consolidate my stash, those would likely be the ones I'd pack, possibly adding a Dodo product for some bling.

Excluding coatings, I haven't found anything that compares to Duragloss 501. It's made for boats. Think about it.

Favorite wax: Megs #26 High tech yellow wax
Favorite sealant: Carbrite Black Pearl Final Finish sealant

I'm still a little iffy on 845. After application, letting it haze and buffing off, it left darker areas on my vehicles. Almost as if the oils from the wax congregated in certain spots on my paint?

I love the durability also, but I get those spots too. It drives me nuts! I don't use it anymore on dark or colored vehicles because they're almost impossible to get rid of. Washing, cleaning, polishing, or even IPA won't touch it.

My new favorite: To be determined :xyxthumbs:

I too have many many LSP's on my shelf,,,,everything from Menzerna's "new" power lock wax to Black fire aerosol spray wax.
I have been reaching more and more to Chemical guys Butter wax...
The stuff goes on so easy and taking it off is a breeze..and leaves an awesome wet look and the durability seems to last

This thread helped me stay away from Collinites or my dark blue car. Thank god I didn't use it. My current favorite is OCW and it looks like it will be that way for a very long time.

Heh, Collinite sealants offer one of the best durabilities on the market today.

I've given thought to products formulated for Boat care...
Long before 'anything-Duragloss' became "popular", so to say.

TO WIT:
I have used the AIO's available in Meguiar's Marine Products line-up
on many a ground-transportation-vehicle...

And with excellent results, I'll add!!

Ive been using groits one step paint sealent . GG best in show and 3m show car wax the seem to work well.

I've been experimenting with them as well. AG has the (non 1 step) sealant on BOGO, figured its good time to pick one up. I've been wanting to try the thing with BOS (best of show) wax where you do the 3hr dry, 3 hr dry, 12 hr overnight, then the last 3hr and remove to see how it'd ome out. :dunno:

I used WGDGPS last summer, but I can't comment since the car was garaged over night then topped with 845 the following day.

I'm still a little iffy on 845. After application, letting it haze and buffing off, it left darker areas on my vehicles. Almost as if the oils from the wax congregated in certain spots on my paint? None the less, I need to have another date with the WGDGPS and nothing else so I can form an opinion of it that won't be skewed by another product(s).

Two days ago, I gave my new VW a dose of XMT 360 and it looked amazing. Yesterday, I topped off the XMT with a thin coat of Megs 26 and it looks absolutely stunning.

#26 is officially my go-to LSP for the time being. After seeing the results of 26, I'm itching to get my hands on something so I can lay down a coat of #7, seal it with #21 and finish it off with #26.

I'm planning on stocking up on Meguiars, this one experience has me that impressed. Their "Mirror Glaze" line is nothing like the stuff available at your local retailer. This is actually an impressive product line that is also priced to my liking as well.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using AG Online

What sequence should you apply these 3 products. Are all 3 really necessary? Thanks.
