Your preferred method for detailing expensive wheels?

Hello everyone. I did some searching through the forum and the site for what people use on their wheels, but with so many different types of wheels, it's hard to tell what works best on what. So, I decided to make a topic for my specific scenario and I hope that's okay.

I am soon to be the proud owner of some wheels manufactured by Rays. They are forged Volk wheels. I believe they are powder coated black, diamond cut on the lip, and then cleared.

My goal is to clean them every weekend as they will be on my daily driver. I've heard people say just use car soap on delicate clear, but my car soap is Wolfgang Uber Rinseless. I don't know how well a rinseless would work. I also know acidic cleaners are a guaranteed way to mess up the finish.

So, what would be your preferred method for keeping these wheels clean and in good shape? Thank you all for any advice you can offer.

I give you alot of credit for taking the time to post a thread and ask how to properly maintain something that you didnt even have at the time!

kudos to you, for wanting to learn how to properly maintain your wheels without damaging them. not alot of people think like that.

I have been using a Speedmaster brush for awhile. Very nice brush.

Thanks for the kind words Joe and thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I'm getting a few different brushes to try and see what I like best. By the way, is it safe to use a wheel cleaner like Sonax on a bi-weekly basis? I know most only use it a few times a year, but I'd like to use it a couple times a month to keep things mint if it's safe to do so.

Yes, it's safe.

Interesting dialogue, gentlemen. Nice wheels, Shadow536! Enjoy them.

Please, know how to set your tire pressure correctly, too. I was talking to a young Marine recently about his great wheels while we were at the gas station air hose. Ends up he had no idea what pressure to put in the tires and had been running 60 PSI in his stock VW tires for four months. Gave a crash course on label reading that afternoon... then called my Dad and thanked him for teaching me all that stuff.

Thanks for all the help guys! And good advice on the tire pressure! I adjust my pressure pretty often especially when seasons are changing because I like to keep it right at the sweet spot. I learned how to maintain cars mechanically before I found this wonderful site and learned about cosmetic care
