Your Wheel Choice

Chrome just works on trucks. Some makes & models might pull off the look, but many came off tacky.

Also, trucks/off-road vehicles tend to age well... Think of a year decades ago. Now think of the vehicles. Now think of how many cars from said year still holds up vs trucks from the same year.

Vette . 3 piece billet chromed lip, brushed aluminum center with clear powder coat, the inside lip black satin powder coat or as i call it brake dust black. Wheels are easy to take care off.
On truck chrome with a simple design to make it easy to clean. No small tight areas to have to clean in. Previous truck, white one had a gap in the spokes and took longer to clean for a daily driver even though I liked the look better. You can get real chrome or pvd, I went with real chrome. I always put aftermarket wheels on my cars, does not feel like mine till I start customizing. I use to go with unsealed aluminum wheels love the look lots of maintenance. As I get older/old ease of cleaning comes more into the picture. If you go with aftermarkets you do have to keep them maintained they are not as durable as factories. Unless you go with a billet wheel they pretty much are all made in china and marketed by different US companies. I like my wheels with a lip on them, old school because I am old.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. When I started this, I was just curious of what you preferred. I am not looking for help picking something out, but thanks! Since its been asked this is for my 200S, color is Velvet Red Pearl. I just was thinking of changing them out just to make it more my own.

I really like the kind of wheel Zach posted the pic of, something along those lines. For the record I am not into the black wheels, nothing against it, I've seen some great looking rides with them, its just not me.
 
To each their own, that's my take.

I've put aftermarket wheels on every vehicle I've owned since 1992. Trucks and SUV's. And on each one of them I never let the vehicle or the finish of the wheel dictate what I put on, I let the vehicle and wheel become one. Each vehicle dependent on color and style can be enhanced by a certain wheel style and finish.

I can say that my GC is the only sports car I've ever owned and 99.9% of the time when someone comments on it the first thing they say is how much they like the wheels.

PS if you ask my wife she, picked them out :dblthumb2:

I've always liked stock wheels and prefer painted and cleared wheels. I prefer a light metallic silver or gun metal gray metallic paint that is cleared.

I always ended up in this spectrum. Then again, I like to fly under the radar.

Another color that I like - and thinking of respraying a spare set - is hyper black.

Kind of silver, kind of chrome, but not quite. A nice hybrid look.

Yes, sir. A big fan of BBS here. I have two sets for spares. A bit on the pricey side, but they are forged; strong, light, unsprung weight, and all that good excuses. lol

Is there a particular set you are considering?

I'd stick with silver or possibly gunmetal. A nice concave wheel would look very good. I've had black wheels and I would never go that route again. They appear smaller and are just in general an overall PITA to keep clean.
 
I browsed here and there but the last day or two have been really looking, going to some sites to see what they offer. After seeing your post Brutal, I went to BBS's website, only to get kicked. They only have one wheel according to my search that fits my car. Can BBS be custom ordered? So no, right now nothing specific , just looking. As far as cost I would have no problem dropping $350-$400 a wheel if its something I really like.

The thing that got me thinking is I want to change out the tires that came with the car, I got these certain Pirelli tires in my radar, and I figured to change it up all at once. The current tire is ok, but I like a premium ride.
 
Interesting topic. I am a fan of OEM rims...er....wheels, whatever you want to call them.
With one exception!!

When Ford decided to go retro with the Mustang in 2005, they ditched using the anthracite Bullitt wheels they had been using in 2001-2004 Mustang GT's, in lieu of the "Concept" wheels, which we call "fan-blades".

I thought it was completely inappropriate for the the retro style mustang to have these space-age looking wheels... IMO, they looked out of place on the vehicle.
I returned to the Bullitt style wheels. The OEM wheels are tucked in the boxes the replacements came in and are locked away in storage.

You'll see in later pic's, I not only changed the rims, but added a much needed chin spoiler, ditched the deck spoiler for a GT500 spoiler.

-Chrome...old muscle cars & cruisers with spokes

-Anthracite...tuners and Pro Touring

-Matte black...track, tuners and Pro Touring

-Hyper Black...tuners and Pro Touring

-Body color...theme based

-Gloss black....NEVER!!!

Sorry Paul, I can't stand the whole gloss black wheel trend but at least yours have a contrasting lip. I know your an AG'er and take care of your car but 9 out 10 gloss black wheels are dirty and swirled, not to mention the color takes away from the wheel style as well. IMO Torque Thrusts look best in anthracite or the original grayish color, just my .02 cents. Btw polished American Racing Torque Thrusts look great too but only on muscle cars with a wider lip, sorry to be so paricular but it's only because I'm a self admitted wheel wh....urrrr, wheel lady of the night👈
